And this shows the 2 big reasons why Ford, GM and Chrysler will never be as successful...they lack this ingenuitive business philosophy and they use union labor, both of which will never let them move forward like Toyota.

I would bet that if Toyota were to take over any one of the big three, that within less than 5 years all debt would be cleared and profits would be soaring. The UAW would be nonexistant, but as any logical Michiganian could tell you, we'd be better off.

To Faith, Toyota has more problems now than they can handle without overextending and buying one of the American companies. Toyota vehicles once considered top notch are now shunned as unsafe and Toyota upper management in disarray. Daily news reports from respected newspapers , also written by union reporters ( so sorry ) tell of problems across the Toyota model line. These problems with acceleration issues have been festering for fours or longer while Toyota looked the other way and possibly criminally put drivers and their families in danger. We do not drive a Prius but do have a bought new highlander which has been fine. Your words and attitude shows why people tend to dislike Prius drivers and their swarmy attitude. ( i know I know a generalization ). Look within Faith

Please tell me why you included ford? Ford has no debt and has not been bailed out. Ford sells more hybrids than Honda and is the number 2 in hybrid sales behind toyota. This prevailing attitude is exactly why toyota is in the spot it is today. A mere shell of what it used to be clinging to years past. Sad reality of it Toyota may not recover from this fiasco for some time. While ford cleans up and has seen a 35% increase in sales.

Ford only didn't get a bailout because they were fortunate enough to see the credit crisis coming and got massive cheap loans by mortgaging everything they owned before it hit.

A thread here, with HISTORY:

1) - Toyota never satisfied without being perfect.
2) - Toyota HIT with quality "ISSUES".
3) - Toyota exonerated. The 2 or 3 dozen accidents? "Driver Error"

Well well well. I noticed here, that malorn gave "thanks" when the thread revived, for the purpose of saying in essence, "see? Toyota is as crummy as GM. He danced in glee

Then, in a desperate, last ditch attempt to at least find SOMETHING wrong ... the fed's highway safety group got NASA involved. Certainly, THEY can find SOMETHING. But alas, it was not meant to be. Even so ... Toyota shortened their pedals ... to "idiot-proof" them, when drivers chose to keep things on the floor near the pedal. This way, when driver's shoes ... litre bottles, beach towels, floor mats, doggie chew toys, whatever they kept on the floor got kicked under the pedal, it'd be even MORE difficult for these folks to accidenly kill their self. Even so ... I'm still going to bet that someone will find a way to jam a 36 pack of Bud Light down there ... and the whole thing will start back up again ... and malorn will resurface.

It's not like the thousands of complaints they had of engine sludge buildup just magically never happened.
