A usually reliable source, Our Lady of the Vespers, St. Dianne of Carson, has told us the first '06s will start arriving "right after Thanksgiving".

Today the local dealer whose list I'm on said he won't start "confirming" orders by taking deposits until early January, "because they're not coming until late January or early February".

In another thread today thegoodlifeisgood reports that Toyota of Sunnyvale says December.

These three California dealers are within 400 miles (or less) of each other.

If you've talked to a dealer about an '06, or ordered one, what have you been told? By a salescritter, Fleet Mgr., whom?

My car is coming from Toyota Sunnyvale. The guy there told me that '06's were not being built until November. Not sure how accurate that is.

On a positive note, I received my allocation on Wednesday, car should arrive in Los Angeles mid-month, in my hands at the end of the month....finally.

Interesting thing though, the VIN comes before, and they can start the DMV papework ahead of time. I received a note from their DMV person she mentioned somethign about special "P" plates. I sent a note to her to find out more details, I have never heard of these. I'm wondering if it means you don't need carpool stickers? I have pasted what she sent me below. Anyone hear of these plates before? I was going to search through the boards next to see if I can find some info.

"As soon as I get your completed paperwork, I can walk it thru the DMV for dealerships in Mt. View any time. They will actually key it in right there and your registration should have your P. Plates on it. You need to feel out a application for p plates to transfer or appply them to the new vehicle. This way you won't have to bother getting regular plates and having to turn them in. "

I contacted two dealers at the end of September, telling them both that I wanted to take delivery as soon after January 1 as possible. One said that was about when my car would arrive (based on my position on their list); the other said it would take a couple months (which would be the end of November).

My guess is that P plates mean Personalized Plates. Do you have personalized plates?

P plates in these parts (Texas) make me think of the temporary buyers plates issued by the dealer. They are paper, with red print, and they all start with the letter P.

I spoke with the owner of the dealership where I ordered mine through, here in Chicago.

He said he's expecting delivery in the Jan/Feb timeframe. Confirmed the same kind of beliefs about they're not building them til nov/dec, and that prices are not out yet.

We don't have those in California. Before we get our regular plates all we have is a temporary registration tag which is taped to the windshield.

I just ordered an '06 Prius from a dealer in Irving Tx and was told that he can't confrm the package options yet because they have not been provided to the dealers. He said I should expect to receive my car in January '06.

I ordered an 06 prius last week in DE, and the dealer said 2 - 3 months. He also didn't know that the colors were different for '06, so take that with a grain of salt.

I was told 3-6 months, but probably on the early end since I wanted one of the higher packages (Nav/no leather). The dealer still stated they were waiting to see what there 06' allocation numbers would be (they have had about 13-20 Prii/month this year). He stated it may be possiable for them to get one for me earlier but I figured I waited this long I want the credit for 2006.

This is from Tansky Toyota in Dublin/Columbus Ohio.

    Two Months?

I'm told my dealer (Maroone Toyota - Davie Florida) is a high volume Prius seller and they're expecting 20-24 Prii late November, early December. My silver package 8 is #8 on their list, so it's a number/waiting game. I have the dealer's brand new 05 TRAC Prius at a cheap rental, so I'm sure he'll be as happy to get his 05 Prius back as I'll be to get my 06. There's one 06 Silver #8 in front of me.

I ordered my 06 back in May with the idea I would get in August like I did with my 01. It was not until June or July the dealer in SW Missouri told that the Corolla and the Camy would interrupt the production and delivery date of the Prius. I have been told that my order will entered officially early December and delivery (Sept was last info from dealer) would be early January or February. I have sent info I have gotten from this group about package list and photos and he wanted how I get info he can not get. :) It appears to me that there is a lot of speculation going on with a lot of the dealers. I would honesty say that they will be here very late December or by middle January. An interesting to add. . . my gas mileage has gone up when we went past the 74,000 mark by four gallons. This is at speeds of around 68 mph and in town driving.

I ordered from Geis in Peekskill NY. Said I should have no problem getting the car in January. Wrote up order at 05 MSRP, but said he would have to adjust to 06 MSRP, but that he didn't expect a MSRP change of more than a few hundred. Said if I didn't want it then , he would just give to next person & refund the deposit.

Ditto with my dealer in NJ. He also told me that he would have the price info by the end of this month and that he will be able to deliver the pkg#7 i ordered in mid September sometime in Jan.

I will need to find out if they can do a leather steering cover installation before delivery. :)

If you mean steering WHEEL, the '06 has a leather-covered one.

Only the NW package (#8). #7 does not have leather.
