    Re: a another Prius Fan

    hello and welcome.

The 3rd generation has just been launched last year (I think they'll be in India soon and I have no idea if they'll make it to Sri Lanka) so the 4th generation will be a few years away.

While each country has different features and specifications, feel free to browse toyota.com (USA) and toyota.co.uk (UK) to get an idea of what features are available on the new Prius.

There's also these two sites for the Prius in India (Which may have specifications closer to your country than the US or the UK)

    Thank you for your reply,
to my knowledge there are few Toyota Prius in Sri Lanka, i got a news from my friend, who says that after the battery dies they convert the car into a normal gas/fuel car by installing engine , transmission and other stuff. and so far 3 cars have been converted at one workshop.

Is there any new version(3rd Gen) of the Prius Driving Simulator ??? or anything similar ??

    Thank you,
    Suren

Why? why not convert it to a plug-in hybrid? Add better batteries and continue using it as a plug-in hybrid.

    Not that I know of.

    Hay,

I own a 2010 Prius IV with Navigation (pearl color). I bought this from the first batch of cars that came into Seattle area in May 2009. I believe I am the first Sri Lankan to own a Prius gen 3. Yes, I take pride in all these.

I have been trying to find the market price of a Prius IV with Navi in Sri Lanka for comparison purposes (It fetches about $28K here). So will be very thankful to anyone who would give some idea on that.

I was eying the Prius for a over three years and I was all set to buy one when the new Honda Insight was announced. Insight was impressive online but I gave up on the Insight on my first encounter. Prius Gen 3 was announced during the same time and I was keenly waiting for its arrival. However I had one worry, my wife is very picky (they usually are :)) and I had no way of knowing how she would react. Luckily she loved the gen 3 Prius.

Some say that you may not break-even the additional cost you incur by savings on fuel. That may be true but I consider the extra money spent as an investment on the future generation and as a part of my effort at my capacity to go green (Of course I also walk:)).

I think a Gen 2 prius goes for Rs. 6.5 Million in Sri Lanka.
the price is 3 x higher here then US.

Hello Suren and Welcome to the site
The 4th Genaraction prius will be the Plug in Hybrid.
it has the same features like the 3 Gen Prius only different will be the battary.
in the 3 Gen prius u can run only 2KM upto 50 KMH in EV mode, but in the 4 gen prius u can go 29 KM upto 80 KMH in EV mode, and it will give 48 KM/L.
and in the 3 Gen prius the battary is nickel metal, but in the 4 gen prius the battary lithium ion and it will give more power i thing 8 K/W
and there are 3 battarys in the 4th gen prius 2 battarys are use to run the car in EV Mode, and the other battary is use to run in Hybrid Mode.
Other than this there is no big different.
and it will come on ? 2012.

and The 5 Gen Prius is not a car it will be a minivan like a Toyota Sienna and it Call Prius V, and this one has somany different in every way.

Hope This Will Help U a Little.
