Hmmm, i was told by the Apple folks that it was not a good idea for the battery.

And 26 degrees ain't nothing here in Texas!! Here, in a car, the temp can easily go past 60 degrees C. And yes, at that temp, it is not good for any Ipods.

Will full AVRCP mean anything to those with the dealer installed (not factory installed) BT? Not sure what else they could do with only volume up/down buttons and call button.

60°C? I think not, otherwise you'd set a world record (I believe the current world record is 58°C).

At that temp, it's not good for anything or anybody, let alone the iPod ;)

Read again what i wrote...60 degrees in a car. We get easily up to 37-40 C here. Inside a car...much higher!

Tideland, i noticed that you're getting a bit picky these days...kinda annoying, esp. when you misread something. :)

Back in the days when I had my carputer in my truck I did a temperature torture test in the hot CA valley sun. I booted up the computer and turned on the video monitor. I had a thermometer that had the reading to 140F. The high temp for the day was 110F. After parking under direct sun for 2 hours the temperature inside the truck reached to about 160F (71C) I got into the truck. It was freaking HOT. The PC worked just fine with no freeze ups or reboots. the stereo turned on and played just fine. Touch screen works with no problems. I think the ipod should be able to survive 60C with no problems.

Good to know. Hmm, i was told that Lithium batteries are very sensitive to heat. Oh well, at least now i know that it is OK if i accidentally leave it in my car on a hot day. Otherwise, i will probably stay on the safe side and avoid doing such.

FYI, my Iphone was just updated to 4.0.2 this afternoon. I have no idea what difference this might make since I have had no problems, but perhaps it might help some.

Not sure about the bluetooth music streaming through the bluetooth interface that comes as a package on the PRIUS, but the BlueLogic bluetooth addon that was installed through the dealer on my PRIUS only plays through the front speakers. Therefore, I use the AUX interface, which comes out all speakers.
