smart key not working

    smart key only works when in dash. new batt. in fob. can not turn on radio at any time. fob will not open or lock doors. help please! also need second key programed. bought on ebay. thanks, larry

    What do you mean about not being able to turn on the radio? Are you talking about the normal FM radio?

    Check to make sure the Smart Key disable button under the steering wheel is in the proper position. Accidentally pressing this button is the most common reason for the SKS not working.

    thanks for the reply. Sorry so late in answering, but i am having trouble navigating this site and comp. In general. I found the problem with the smart key ( fuse wire melted and came out of fuse box under hood ) . Some problem with the factory on that i believe. Maybe if the interior light is on too long with something else on this can happen. Now i have a air bag light that will be on for weeks then like magic it goes off for weeks then repeates itself.
