How does the sound of the 2010 JBL system compare to the current one?

Better, although I only heard it while stationary. The speakers are improved, and they got rid of the lousy center speaker.

Is the Bluetooth music streaming feature available on the Prius III package with the "JBL CD changer with Bluetooth handsfree capability", or is streaming only available when you get the navigation system option also?

Not 100% certain. I was of the impression it was part of the JBL upgrade though.

    Hi Rick,

One quick question about this thread title:

Why did you called it "Audio video"? Is it also possible to stream video on the Bluetooth radio equipped Prius?

It's a silly play on words.... if you were to quote it, it'd be the "2010 Toyota Prius Bluetooth Audio" video, as in it's a video about the 2010 Toyota Prius Bluetooth Audio.

I was hopping to see some video on that MFD without having to hack it... ;)

I have a 2010 II Prius without the navigation system. I don't even recognize what part of the dash is being pictured in the manual on how to link your phone to the bluetooth. I just got an iPhone 4 and wanted to link it. p331 shows where the microphone is. What part of the car is that. My wheel has the circular controls on each side but that is it.

If I may bump this to ask a silly audio question:
In my company-fleet Dodge it seemed they were smart enough to give you a notch cut out of the side of the center console so that you could use the audio input in there running to a device out on the seat or something. Same goes for the 12v that was in there. Does the Prius have such a feature as well? I've crawled over it, but I don't see any way to run power or audio in there without crimping the cables. Thanks in advance!

There's a power outlet in the centre console as well as outlets for the auxiliary input and USB/iPod connection (if equipped). The tray in the console has a gap towards the back, allowing you to rest your MP3 player on the tray and run the wire towards the back of the tray and into the plugs below.

Thank you very much for answering - what I'm curious about is a way to run the cables outside of the cosole. The Dodge has a "notch" cut so that with the console top shut, you don't crush cables. Is this possible on the Prius? Thanks!

Ahh, I see what you mean now. Our Camry had that notch so you can close the console and still have a phone charger cable run through (yep, it was a decent size hole).

Unfortunately, no, there's no cut-out in the Prius' centre console lid. Unlike the Camry, there isn't any provisions for resting the MP3 player (or phone in the Camry's case) cause it's assumed the cupholder has a cup in it.

I may be wrong but I think their is a gap with the cover closed. Will check tomorrow.
