keep driving it... you'll get more confidence with practice.
it's "just a car" that's tons better than many others on the road, and gets better fuel mileage, too!

"looking for excuses to go somewhere defeats the purpose"????

its "purpose" might include letting you go anywhere you want, and not have to worry so much about the fuel expense.

after all, if it's parked in your garage, the miles per gallon is 0/0, which is hard to calculate, and the fun/mile is darned near zero! it's a car! use it and enjoy it!
    :)

Alan, I see we have the same color and package, except you have leather! (My husband didn't believe there was any such thing until I showed him your post.) I thought I'd miss leather more, maybe fabric IS warmer and maybe it WILL clean well, all I know for sure is that my vegan kid is happy about that.
Anyway, I wanted to mention and you can confirm, "gray/BURGUNDY" interior? Oh sure, in the bright sun you can almost imagine part of the dash has a bit of burgundy mixed in with the gray. Not even a suggestion of burgundy anywhere else. Anyone who doesn't like burgundy need not worry. Correct?

    Alan,

Where & how did you get leather in this car? This is not a standard option is it? How did they do that with the seat air bag?

It does look great, and I am currently talking with my Dealer Beaman in Nashville, TN on getting leather seats in my BC (9) Drift wood Pearl.

yes, it's not a Toyota option... one of the first questions i asked when i ordered mine.

no burgundy inside, just two shades of gray. see http://www.plusaf.com/prius/prius.htm for some photos of the interior.

the leather was added by an outside firm from my (new) dealer, Fremont Toyota, Fremont, CA. the firm took the seats and even the center console cover completely out of the car, went offsite somewhere, reupholstered them (all 4-5 seats) in two-tone leather, and brought them back and reinstalled them.

another dealer told me that i could have that done, but again, it's not a Toyota option (i'll hope/expect that on the '06 Camry hybrid...), but you should be able to find a firm in your area that can do it. your dealer may be able to provide leads, too.

i had my '69 Vette's seats re-covered with leather, too, soon after i bought it and long before i sold it to help pay for the Prius, so i know shops like that exist.

let us know how it works out for you!
