My traction light came on. I was pressing the break very hard so the car wouldn't roll. Is this normal or should I have the dealer check this out for me

You probably activated the Hill Assist function. Your owners manual covers that thingy.

Did it beep at you before the light came on? Did the light go out when you took your foot off the brake and started moving? As previously mentioned, it's probably the Hill Assist working as advertised!

Sounds like you activated the Hill Assist to me! Sounds like it's working also... Enjoy your new Prius, it's full of wonderful surprises!
