I have a 2005 Prius Touring with fog lights. The lenses keep getting cracked, letting in moisture and then the bubs blows.
The dealer wants over $300 to replace with factory stuff. At $300 a pop that gets a little too expensive.
What options exist that would give me a more unbreakable lense and I would also like to up the brightness to match my headlights (almost)?
    Any ideas???

    Thanks
    Dave

I think they all crack. I believe the glass in the stock unit is overstressed by the heat of the bulb. In my case the bulbs survive, so I have taken to just driving it that way. To the best of my knowledge the touring fogs are identical to the non-touring fogs.

Go to a glazers and ask them to cut you two Lexan circles. Either replace the stock glass or put the Lexan a little ways in front of it.

The stock fogs are chiefly a decorative item. I don't believe any bulb that fits in there is headlight bright, and I don't know if the wiring harness would take a headlamp strength load. If you want more than a running light I would suggest you look into replacing the unit entirely, and just use the stock power wire to activate a relay to power the new lights.

There are a number of threads around here about upgrading the factory fogs, you'll have to browse your way through them.

Uhm, I think you are confused or have been lied to.

There was no such thing as a Prius Touring before 2007.

Laminex fog light covers have saved me mucho $$$$$. I used Rockblocker lens covers, but they turned brown where the bulb was and looked UGLY! The laminex ones have been on for about 6 months and no discoloration or cracks.

I agree that $300 is expensive and with yearly inspections in my state, they would ping me on the cracked lenses each time. So, this has solved my problem fairly cheaply. Try em out! :)

Before you order contact the customer sales department and ask for them to custom cut it 1mm around the edges so that the heat from your bulbs has a chance to dissipate from the glass with the air. They will kindly do this for you. Lamin-x has been known to burn and discolor but their sales team is great and theyll take good care of you under their warranty and replacement program.

    Nope not oems.

"The OEM fog light kit is designed to be a replica of the factory Prius fog lights. The lens and basic shape is the same. The only difference might be in lens color, which outside of the standard clear, may be offered in yellow or smoke (more on that later). If you have a set of stock Prius fog lights that are old or damaged, then a Prius OEM Fog Light kit is probably a good idea since they look roughly the same and install the exact same way as the originals. "

"Winjet is about as close as Prius Foglights get to having a “name brand.” The quality is a bit better, and they usually install easier as well. Also, unlike X3 Prius Fog Light Kits, every Winjet Prius Fog Light Kit comes with wiring harness and fog light switch (universal style in some cases), even for models where the vehicle should already have them pre-installed. This makes Winjet a perfect choice for people looking to make a clean installation on their vehicle that have harnesses that might be missing or damaged. "

I installed a cheap HID kit from eBay and it's a night and day difference. The fog lights are now bright enough to use without the headlights! The wiring is the same as headlights, as the stock fog lights are standard 55 Watt 9006 style bulbs. With the HID bulbs, both the fogs and stock HID headlights draw only 35 Watts each.
