Air horn 2010 Prius

    If you would have searched for "freeway blaster" (which was already in the post) on their site, it would have taken you to only two items, the high and low horns specified. Sorry I didn't save you those two seconds. :rolleyes:

    Well I will check on the Stebel Nautilis horn for my 2010 Prius. Making manuevers sometimes aren't all that is needed with other drivers out there on the roadways. A good blast of a horn they can hear would really help. I don't want a train air horn, but Cadillac had the right idea in the 60's and 70's. That horn is noticable! That's what I would like. It doesn't even have to be a diesel horn or that loud, but with people running their stereo's and talking on cell phones, a good horn is needed!

    I've been very satisfied with my Stevel Nautilis. And, as a "warning beep", if you only tap the horn button, you get sort of a quieter, "fffff-toot" type sound as the air pump doesn't get to full pressure. Good for not scaring to :target:eek:ut of a clueless pedestrian walking down the middle of a parking lot.

    Thanks - it's not the pedestrians I want to scare. It's the big pick-up truck drivers who don't seem to know how to look to the right or left before changing lanes. And using a turn signal is a lost art! Also, have you ever had your dash warning light for "slippery road" come on just after starting the car and when not even in drive mode or moving? I've even had the brake software recall update and this has occurred even after that was done. The dealer is clueless as to what is going on. And usually when in doubt, I just turn off the car and restart it. This happens while I am still pressing on the brake pedal before putting the car into drive, but not a lot of times, just once in a while. Strange.

    No, I can't say I've ever had the problem with the brake warning light coming on. However, yes, the horn has come in handy for all those clueless drivers that try to text and start driving lanes as well.

    Are you sure you aren't activating the "Hill Start Assist" feature of the car? Basically, when you are depressing the break pedal for a full stop, if you slightly press down even further for about a second or two, the Hill Start Assist feature will turn on. Basically, when used on a slope/hill/long grade, it will keep the car parked in place when you take your foot off the brake and press the gas pedal.

    It's a nice feature that I suggest you try out next time you are on a slight incline. After standing in a full stop, instead of having the car roll back an inch or two, it will make the car stay there until you either press the gas pedal, or within 4-5 seconds the dash will beep alarming you that it will turn it off so either brake down again, or start driving.

    The same light that is used for the TRAC and VSC system (the yellow car with 'slippery road' sign flashes), so this is all normal. As well, you can de-activate the Hill Star Assist again by pressing down on the brake all the way and holding it for another 1-2 seconds. Hope this helps! :cool:

    Ditto - Sounds like you're pressing down on the brake pedal a bit too forcefully when starting the car. My nephew had the same issue - he wasn't aware of the Hill Start Assist feature either...

    I installed an air horn today. It took an about 30 minutes. This is the unit I installed.

    COMPACT DUAL TONE AIR HORN LOUD 139dB for CAR TRUCK RV: eBay Motors (item 390204253831 end time Jul-31-10 03:40:59 PDT)

    It came with the horn, a relay and nut bolt combo. I had the 12 gauge wire, the crimp connectors, 20A fuse and used an extra metal plate. I had to purchase a water proof fuse case.

    I did not have to take off the bumper. I followed the steps other took here. It was mounted right in the middle of the car near the hood latch using the existing mount that was not being used. I think this is for the technology package. I bolted the horn to a plate and used a bolt to mount the plate to the existing mount. I mounted the relay on another mount right next to the other.
