I know what great love Prius owners have for their cars because I am included in the masses. I unfortunately have to sell my car as I am heading overseas to volunteer for over a year and need the money to help purchase necessities for the non-profit organizations I will be working with.

I have a 2010 Black Prius II with 17,000 miles
Purchased it the beginning of August 2009 for $24,000
Tinted windows, grey cloth interior and it is spotless!! The whole car still looks brand new!! (It's my baby...I took great care of it)

I have records for all oil changes/maintenance records as well as gas fill ups and sticker tag.

I have looked around online and found only one for sale with more miles on it asking over $22,495. But, since I am in such a rush and need to sell it I am willing to consider ALL offers. Again this is not a price I am selling for just a reference point for what I have seen other places.

Please help me find a great Driver for this car!

Just posted the pics I took about a week ago.

    Thanks!
    Caron

And since I have had people questioning my reason for sale behind my baby and such a new car here is my blog address with further explanation: http://sellmycar4acause.blogspot.com/

All i know is that I bought my Prius in TX but since I was a CO resident I received a HUGE tax credit to be used over time as is needed. I think it was around 3500 or so. I think it is only good for new hybrids though. That is something to look into, it would be great for a used buyer to take advantage of it if it is good for them as well.

Google Colorado hybrid tax credit. I am sure it will state there.

These credits usually have minimum ownership times attached to them, and are not transferable. I will guess that either the new owner or previous owner will have to give the money back. Reason would dictate you, but I don't always grasp government decisions.

Ah-Ha! That would totally make sense...but if it is a "credit" and you are not actually receiving a "refund" I wonder if that means that I will have to pay back taxes I received a credit for this year?! Yikes!! That would be too bad.

That is my guess. Either way, I hope you will find out the actual rules for your state, and share the details with potential buyers if it affects them.

I find it somewhat ... amusing ... that you are trying to sell a used car for more than you paid after tax credits for it new. Beyond the questionable ethics of posting "Purchased it the beginning of August 2009 for $23,000", why wouldn't a person in CO just buy new and take the generous credit, like you did ?

Personally, if the credit was say $5,000 for a new car and I was considering buying a used car from someone who shaved the truth, I might offer $15,000 after the car was inspected *very* carefully by my mechanic, but paid for by the seller.

    Hey, SageBrush,

I don't really want to get in the middle of this, but I don't see anywhere that there is a posted asking price of "more than you paid...". I'm not sure how Colorado's tax credit is applied to noracn22's Prius, but I doubt it was applied at purchase time (similar to the "cash for clunkers" program) to reduce the purchase price, so there's no savings at that time (besides, it was bought in Texas so I don't think a Texas dealer can apply a Colorado tax credit at the time of purchase---only what might be in effect in Texas at that time).

noracn22 stated the tax credit was around $3,500 "to be used over time as is needed". That sounds more like a credit for a state income tax or property tax to me rather than a rebate/refund (price reduction) at time of purchase, so any state income tax or property tax credit received by noracn22 should NOT be considered to reduce the "for sale" price now [especially since that credit MAY have to be repaid by the one who received it (not a future owner)---although noracn22 has owned it for over a year now, so the repayment may NOT be necessary (not sure if ownership duration rules exist or if they are applicable)].

By contrast, my state of Connecticut had a SALES tax exemption in effect from Oct 1, 2004 through June 30, 2010 (applied at time of sale) for any hybrid (new or used) that had an EPA rating of 40 MPG or better (I wonder if any shady USED car dealers charged unsuspecting customers the sales tax when they weren't supposed to). Some towns & cities also offer a local property tax credit for hybrid owners (but not mine). My sales tax savings was around $1,400 & I had a savings of around $600 on my Federal income tax because of the $2,000 income tax DEDUCTION in 2005 (before the better $3,150 income tax CREDIT took effect---I wish I'd waited).

Sorry I butted in here, but your criticism sounded a little harsh & if someone chooses to have a private party used car inspected by a mechanic before sale (a wise piece of advice), then that cost is usually born by the BUYER. A seller could choose to have an inspection done before hand to make his sale quicker & more attractive, but then do you really know if the person doing HIS inspection is qualified? If you have your own mechanic do the inspection, then you know he should have your own best interest at heart & therefore his evaluation should be more reliable.

Okay wow! Accusations...true you never know what you are buying online, but I am an honest person trying to not have to make payment and donate what I have left over from my down payment on the vehicle, while I am doing volunteer work for churches and other organizations over seas. To satisfy your taste for why I am selling my car and since you can't read above, read this!!! Sell My Car For A Cause

I bought my car in Austin, TX because I was living there, but I was not a resident yet. I bought a flat bed trailer to haul to CO when I moved back in December. I feel that this is giving YOU too much information but for those of YOU who are skeptical of my efforts in WHY I want/need to sell my car this is it! I have chosen to give up a great life here to write a book on human trafficking specifically the sex slave trade, immersing myself in the culture and meeting the victims first hand. All proceeds from this book will be given to the victims to help them start lives for themselves outside of prostitution.

Think before you speak because there are those out there who are voiceless and I hope to help give a voice to the voiceless.

No, Thank you for butting in. I did not receive a tax credit at purchase. To be honest I didn't even know that was possible. I have a credit sitting with the state of CO for just under the $3,500 because I used about $300 to pay taxes I owed this year. Other than that I have not received any benefits for buying my car other than the extremely large amount of money I save on gas from switching over from a jeep. I love my car and take extremely great care of it. I would recommend that anyone buying a used car get an inspection. It would be stupid if they didn't but I can tell you off the bat that there will be NO problems here and no wasting anyones time.

And about the price...It clearly states that it is "MAKE AN OFFER!" I am only stating the pricing I saw online to give a reference point.

Oh, and one more thing... Since you are accusing me of doing some really shady stuff that I will now have to justify to any potential buyer. For all of those who are truly interested and want to know how much I paid for my car I have a bill of sale as well as the Toyota financial paperwork for how much I paid for my car and the amount I financed through them. I would be MORE than willing to provide copies of those to you with signatures and account numbers hidden, but the rest of the information visible.
    Thanks!

Thank you! And good luck to you as well. I figured I would not get nearly what I paid for it. Let me know what you end up getting yours for...that will give me some idea where to go with it all.
