You should have kept the horn off of your old Honda, you could have put it on your Prius.

There are some threads on this site that deal with swapping Prius horns out for louder ones, you should be able to find them with a search.

 

Welcome! As was just pointed out, there are some aftermarket solutions to the horn.

You miss the 92 Accord's horn? are you serious? They sound just as wimpy as the Prius, maybe a little louder but that's it. They both got the high pitch squeal. I'm glad my parents got rid of that Accord. It was made in Japan while the rest of the Accords in the lot were made in USA. It had wind noise from hell, even at only 55mph with no headwind nor crosswind. It was a poorly made car. The power window cable broke. The dealer said that it's not covered under the warranty, only the motor. It's in the same unit. You cant order just the cable nor just the motor. It's all in one package. The suspension sucks. It would bottom out when we hit a big dip. We drove through the same dip with their 98 Sienna at faster speed, nothing. I couldn't get higher mileage than 30 no matter how hard I tried. My parent's 2006 Sienna I was able to get 31mpg on the freeway. Their 98 Sienna I was able to get 32mpg. Hell, I got 34mpg on my Tacoma at one time. All these Toyotas have big V6 engines while the Accord has a little 2.0 liter I4. The windows would fog up during winter, Nothing could get rid of it except running the defroster. With our Toyotas, all we had to do was turn on the heater (not defogger nor defroster) or crack the window a bit. After the Accord, I vow to never ever let my family buy a Honda again. My brother bought an 06 TSX after I plead to him not to get it. Now he's having the same suspension problems, same wind noise problems, couldn't get more than 30mpg. It's a Honda Accord all over again. He had a 95 Tercel that he love to drive more than the TSX. He drive the crap out of the Tercel and still got 40mpg. He paid 2,000 for it before the gas hike, drive 80,000 miles then sold it for 2,500 during the gas hike. Now he's back driving his POS...TSX.

 

yep had mine for almost 2 weeks now, still on my first tank. I now don't mind at all those big old trucks in front of me. Gives me an extra excuse, and some get it up time before someone out back throw their arms up in the air. Good luck with as well.

 

Humm....I just got my Prius. When I was test driving new cars, I didn't even think about testing out their horns! Oh well....I can't believe that the Prius is any worst then my previous Camry's horn. If was somewhat enimic too: I actually got rear ended by a teenager once because he couldn't hear my horn over his loud radio. He was driving a Toyota 4x4 and claimed he couldn't hear my horn while he was pulling out.....I had already pulled out partially before I saw this SUV start pulling out in back of me. It was surreal: I laid on the horn and he just kept on backing up until he hit me. The only thing I found the horn was good for was getting people to wake up if they weren't concentrating on the traffic light.

As for the driving habbits.....I think Toyota has done a good job with their guages for the Prius: they really encourage you to stop speeding habbits in favor of eeking out as many mpgs as possible.
