On my UK Prius with Nav (uses HDD for Nav System, and includes a DVD / CD reader too), I put my music in MP3 format on a DVD-RW for convenience. I have two questions about how this works -

    1. When I turn off the audio by hitting the audio power button, and then turn it back on later the music resumes from a previous point. How far it goes back seems to vary enourmously from 10 seconds to 10 minutes (so doubt it goes back by X KBytes for example). Any idea how this is determined, or if I can alter it in some way?

    2. Any way to pause the music without using the power button? When using my mobile to stream over bluetooth I can hit pause and that is really useful (when the missus and I decide to discuss something, we like to pause the audio and then resume it, as we listen to a lot of spoken word stuff and like to discuss things along the way).

    Ta muchly.

The basic CD player in the T3 does the same.

This is the first time I have had an MP3 player so I guess the 'rewind' feature is to do with buffering. The MP3 track is compressed and has to be turned into an audio stream so when you power off then resume, I imagine it goes back to the previously decompressed 'block' so you get the rewind effect.

My previous CD players (mostly kenwood) have paused the CD when the volume has been muted. The Prius is the first one I have met where this doesn't happen. It is a little annoying! To pause the CD I switch to FM then mute. Interestingly, when playing a CD and an RDS traffic announcement gets played, the CD gets paused!

I also thought it was related to buffering, but the amount it goes back seems to be so massively varied that it doesn't seem likely to me. I could be wrong of course!
