    Hi folks,

I just got my new 2010 Prius with the Tech package (I think it has some components of the IV) thanks to all for the posts on how to maximize the fuel efficiency and not to worry about it for the first few tanks and learn how to take advantage of the technology. Very happy so far with my choice. Not sure why the Canadian model doesn't have the USB interface for iPods but I'm still happy with the car. I haven't the issues with the Nav that you see here in ther forum. Haven't tried the park assist yet, nor the cruise control the dealer and the manual tell you to vary your speed while breaking it in. I look forward to learning more from all of the contributors and sharing my own experiences!

    Jim

OF course i am going to miss the feeling of driving a sport car 4 wheels drive, but this Evo drinks gas like hell and its so expensive to maintan

55 liters of gas = only 200 miles with a thank OMG!
    100$ for oil change
OEM tire were death after 9000miles and i didnt even race with them just normal driving!

Tonic, I hope you enjoy the Prius. You will have to let us know how you adjust to change in driving style.

So how do you like your Prius? I wanted a techno package too, but it a little bit too pricey for me now plus i like the look of the touring better! But i wish i had took the leather but for 2000$ its too pricey!

    Welcome JimmieW! and enjoy!
@Tonic - honestly the Prius looks better than your old car... ;)

Favour to ask JimmieW: could you please tell us what is your FM reception/reproduction of signal on your Radio? there is a long thread about this here and I would like to understand if new Priuses stopped having this issue. If you have a Navi likely your reception/reproduction is fine. Non Navi stock radios have all sorts of noises, bad reception, etc...

My previous car was an AWD Subaru, and while it wasn't a speed demon, it was a lot of fun in the snow. Before that I had a Nissan SE-R, which did have quite a bit of pep. But almost immediately with the Prius, I found that trying to improve the on-screen MPG (or however you Canadians measure it) on each trip became a bit like playing a video game every time you drive, and I didn't really miss the power or traction of my previous cars. (Not that the Prius is lacking, but it's a relatively normal FWD car in that regard).

Yes i will miss driving the EVo in the snow wich it would be my winter car only if i could but on the tarmac in normal driving it was just too much raw, stiff suspension, power very difficult to extra for normal driving and a tiny trunk too. But very nice car but anyway im 27 years old and driving like a old grand daddy already, i like to drive and take my time!

About a week and a half in but I am happy with the tech package so far ... My wife always supports the leather since it easier to clean up after the kids ... But no regrets the nav is working well for me I know others have had compliants ... Using the Sat radio more then I expected reliving my teenage years with some quality hair metal :)

Pakitt, I've had the car about a week and a half ... I haven't notice any noticeable static with the radio ... I have been listening to a mix of FM, AM (sports talk radio) and the Sat ... The only thing I remember noticing was losing the Sat a couple of times but even that didn't happen enough to be annoying ... I will pay closure attention and see if I am experiencing any of the problems describe in the other thread you referenced (sorry I didn't read the entire thread) if I do discover any issues with reception would you like me to respond here or the other thread ... Or more importantly write to toyota!

I don't know if you were asking me or JimmieW....

I love my Tech Pack. I wish that it had LED headlights but I can't complain about the solar roof. It makes a huge difference (just getting into mine and then into the Gen 2 that's parked next to it in front of the house). I do a lot of travel to the US and so I wanted DRCC (I guess a lot is relative... since highway driving to me means driving to the US lol).

Coming from a Gen 2, I'm used to a full size screen and I never had a factory nav before (I have a TomTom ONE New Edition) so I thought I'd give that a shot. PCS is a nice safety feature and IPA/APGS is a cool trick.. I use it sometimes when I'm lazy.

I have no preference for upholstery but given that the Gen 2's cloth wore out a lot worse than our Corollas, I wasn't gonna take a chance. It also brought heated seats which are a blessing in the winter. Coming from the rainy west coast, the water-repellent front windows are a nice touch... wish the mirrors were hydrophobic too to complete the visibility package/factor. The upgraded A and B pillars (they're lined in felt) is a nice luxury touch and so is the black overhead disc for the maplights and personal light controls.

I had a tough time choosing between the cool factor (looks) of the Touring Package and the cool factor (toys) of the Tech Pack... I guess the nerd beat out the cool kid and I got the Tech.

Yes i went for the Touring because for me the tech package wont really hold more value at the end for the price they ask more.......very nice gagdet in it but where i live its completly useless :)

But both great car, i still dont have mine! wenesday probably! Not many Touring available in dealership in all the old province.......people prefer to buy solar panel instead but for me its perfect!

Yeah, the Premium w/Solar seems to be popular in the west too. I was told it was more for the moonroof than the solar panels lol.

Tourings are "hard" to come by (I don't think very many people have seen one). I saw the exact combo I wanted when I was looking for a Prius (Blue Ribbon w/ Misty Grey) and I saw a black Touring on the road... that's about it.
