I got my Prius 6 months ago and about 6500 miles ago today. What an interesting car ownership experience it's been.

I placed my order on April 22nd (yes, almost a year ago) and still remember at that time hearing about these geeky online chat groups that spent every waking hour discussing the Prius. I also remember saying that I sure didn't think I'd ever become involved in such foolishness, but that the Prius sure was a cool car.

Somewhere along the line I checked out the Prius Yahoo Group and since haven't been able to get away from the forums. What an absolutely fascinating community....of geeks...we are!

To date I've had zero, zilch, nada as far as problems with my Prius. She runs BETTER than the day I got her and the mileage improvements have been a real treat...it's sort of like a cocaine habit I think.

It's amazing that I haven't "gotten over" my fascination with this car and the technology that makes it possible. The more I learn the more impressed I become and the more possibility I see for the future. It's made me a better, slower and safer driver. It's made me more socially and environmentally aware. It's made me a little smug and self-rightous toward large car/SUVs, but not to a bad degree, just enough that I can see some of the foolishness and gov't/car manufactures consipiring to keep those things on the market.

The annoyances have become tolerable, for the most part. I still desire a better gas guage, a better driver's seat, and an end to the damn vibration noise on the passenger side. The DSL feature that should have been is still missed. I'd like an additional power point and maybe even an AC outlet in the hatch area. I'd like an option for additional battery power and grid charging. But these are things to come and for after market add ons.

If it weren't raining I'd have treated my Prius to a nice bath and reapplication of Nu-Finish, but maybe she can wait until next week.

Sign me, Still thrilled after 6 months (and for those waiting, it's worth it)

19 weeks today and 9000 miles.

Must have put almost 1000 of those on since Friday, so it really needs me to give it a bath.

    Well, Happy Birthday, Doc!

Likewise, picked mine up on 10/25. The time an the miles have flown by in a Hybrid Blur. All of a sudden it's logged 6,600 miles, mostly urban/suburban driving.

My wife and I (to qote Woody Allen) Lurve our car. It actually has sort of "broken in" providing imperceptable perfor, manmce and MPG iimprovements over time.

My Average MPG, thanks to warmer weather and breakin in has gone from 38-39 in October to 46 as of yesterday. I've also noticed some trip mileage of just over 50 from time to time. Another encouraging sign.

Theree have been a couple of fit and finish warranty issues - nothing major. All except one have been solved and the other will be taken care of soon enough. Nothing to change my mind about this car.

Our Prius remains "The Coolest Car We Ever Owned".

    Yours for a Hybrid Future,

    Bob

Dang - I've had mine just over 7 weeks now, and I'm already half way there - broke the 4000mile mark this morning. Lots of miles, but I've really enjoyed them, that's for sure.

A small part of me is dreading the upcoming winter - us spring and summer buyers won't know how good we have it until the cold weather hits us and our mpg drops like a rock. Guess that means we'll have to drive twice as much in the summer, right? :)

    Evan,

Congrats on your 6 month anniversary!! :D

Sounds like the Prius has been an eye-opening experience for you, as I'm sure it will be for me. I just received mine 2 days ago in Denver and AM REALLY enjoying it. I work with a bunch of software geeks, so they think it's pretty cool too.

    ENJOY!!
