I tried, and all I could select was the interior color for certain exterior colors. It did have this at the bottom of the page, however:

Sorry Doc, but you are incorrect. You can pick an interior color in some cases, but you can NOT pick leather while building an '05 Prius at Toyota.com. Toyota has not provided leather until the '06 model, which is what stemmed all the discussion above. Some dealerships have provided aftermarket leather options, but there were many concerns in the '05 that if not done right, aftermarket leather could interfere with deployment of the side airbags from the seats.

    Just my $.02 :D

I'm wrong, huh? Seems your $0.02 is pretty worthless. Here is a screenshot of the Toyota website. I highlighted the "Leather" option.[attachmentid=601]

It appears to depend on your locale. When I enter my zip code it takes me to a page that looks completely different from yours, and I do not get any option for leather.

I'm guessing that must be the case. I knew there had to be a reason every car site asks for your zip. The dealer that I went to (Kuhn-Morgan in Tamps) told me that if I did not order the car with leather, that they could do it also. They apparently have a huge upholstery department and can do just about any type of interior you want (cloth, leather, suede, even ostrich if you want!).

Well, here's our area's screenshot. Congrats to you all who got leather way before us. Once again, the Midwest is no place special.

Yeah, I tried my area code (mid-atlantic) and good old 90210, and didn't get the leather option. Must be a SE thing

That's unnecessary. I have never seen a leather option either. Neither have most of us. It's still not an option here (NY).

I don't see it as uneccesary. I know what I had seen. It's been on the website since the 2004 model. What was unecessary was flat out saying I was wrong and telling me what I could not do, when it fact it had already been done. But what's said is said, let's not turn this thread into a little squabble about who was right.

I also recall seing in the literature that Toyota sent me that i mentioned leather there as well. I don't have it any more, as it was 2005 and I ordered an '06. If it's not a factory option, it sure is passed off as one. It says elsewhere that some accessories are dealer installed and that price may vary, but the leather was not among those. That would explain the confusion, as it has been offered here for a while (ZIP 33647 by the way). Curious.

Thanks for the zip! I'm just bummed that our area didn't have the leather earlier; however, I have heard that SE Toyota's middleman is a pain to deal with.

California looks to be about as cool as the Midwest...no leather on the "Build Your Toyota" here either. Just shows you what interior color(s) are/is available with the exterior color option you choose. You'd think being CA and all, leather would be on there for sure! (90720 here)

To clarify, I think the SE states have been able to order leather as an option for some time. There have been threads about this.

Yes, I remember configuring a 2004 model AND a 2005 model on the website, both with leather (I've been thinking about getting a Prius for quite a while...).

I was speaking to a salesman yesterday (Raleigh NC) and he explained to me that the port of entry for the SE is in Fla. and that they were installing leather in some of the 05's in Fla. before shipping them off to the dealerships throughout the SE. It is like the SE dealer's prep package that several forum members were complaining about getting stuck with (undercoating, paint protection, etc).

I also have a question for the group. Will the 06 have seat height adjustments? I noticed that the new Civics have it and was hoping the Prius incorporates it as well.

There's been a lot of press recently from Toyota on their NA press site (http://pressroom.toyota.com). I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some 2006 Prius infor in the next few days.

When the www.toyota.com/Prius site officially announces the 2006 model (with options and prices), I hope someone posts a heads-up here!

Yeah, it's the Pressroom that's down. It's been buggy since their site makeover.
