Hey everyone I know everyone is probably sick of the USB questions but I am a new owner and have a passion for music. Has anyone had the chance to use a USB external HD with the 2010 Prius w/nav? I have a WD 120 Gig and cannot get it to read the drive even with FAT 32 format. Hope someone can help. Thank you!

    1. how many files are on the drive; and
    2. How long are you waiting to determine whether it has read the drive?

I've found that even a 4 MB drive sometimes takes a VERY long time (30 seconds or more) to read the drive contents. It could be it's still trying to process the large drive or large number of folders or files.

The USB interface is ridiculously slow, and very frustrating for accessing large numbers of files. Toyota really blew it on the radio (including NAV) and the USB/iPod interface.

I have exactly 236 files currently on there and I was only waiting about 1 - 2 minutes for it to load. Once I noticed the USB was still grayed out I gave up.

Is this a self-powered drive or are you drawing power from the USB port?

Its powered by the port and I am thinking the size of the drive may be too large. 120 Gig is a bit much but I had one laying around so I thought I would try. I have reformatted several times and left it connected for 30 minutes with no luck.
