Toyota Pressroom seems to be up (after seemingly being down for at least the last 20 minutes that I've been checking), I just refreshed the page and there seem to be no updates since yesterday.

It is a Southeast thing. That part of the country has an independent Toyota distributor (JM Family Enterprises, Southeast Toyota Distributors). Leather is and has been a Port Installed Option (PIO) in that region (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina).

When you input an SE zip code in the www.toyota.com website, you will automatically be redirected to the Southeast Toyota Distributors site from the main Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. site.

    Leather for the 2005 Prius

It's either installed at the "port" if the dealer catches the order in time, or locally by a dealer selected 3rd party installer.

I've seen after market kits available on this site, but the dealer "port" or local leather installation looks much better and is included in your Toyota warranty. I've had 2 leather seat covers replaced under my Acura MDX warranty!

    Hey Doc! :D

Sorry you got so upset with me, but I stand by what I said. We were talking about what was "new" in the '06 model, and I said leather. You claimed you could get leather in the '04 and '05 models.

The thing is, you CAN'T get Toyota Leather from the Toyota factory. I ran down the web page you sent us. See the "dealer_code=02917" in the address bar? What that tells us is that you're looking at a dealer linked build page, to one of the dealers in Tampa, as far as I can tell, and that the dealer is offering aftermarket leather as an option.

ANYBODY can get aftermarket leather in ANY car, and that dealer is selling it on the build page. For those of us that are talking about FACTORY leather, however, it has not been an option until now, and we will see it for the first time when the '06 cars show up.

Once again, I'm sorry you feel that my saying that you were incorrect was inappropriate, but on this site, people tend to take what they read and run with it, and I didn't want anyone getting the idea that they could get leather in their '05 - there's still a few on this site waiting for '05's..

FYI, my local dealer just received 2006 offerings and "estimated price" info yesterday from the Toyota rep. It looks like the base price is $21415. Four packages are being offered in Northern CA.

Estimated prices (no official MSRP yet):
    HF (Pkg 3) $22865
    HK (Pkg 6) $25230
    NL (Pkg 7) $27130
    NW (Pkg 8) $28290

All packages have side airbag, keyless entry, and rear camera.
HK adds skid control, security & garage door, changer & JBL sound, foglamps, and HID headlamps.
NL is HK plus Nav system
    NW is NL plus leather.

I am so glad we have any information as far as pricing is concerned, even if it is only an "estimated price". Let us know any new information as you get it!

So.. pardon the rather dim question, but there will no longer be a Tideland Pearl, or anything else that looks green?

    :(

There will be a green, it's not similar to Tideland Pearl and is called Silver Pine Mica. Not an attactive color, IMO.

See the 3rd post in this thread:

    http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=1...ilver+pine+mica

The color in the demo car in the pics is supposed to be the new green for 2006. :( I much prefer the Tideland to it.

That's really interesting (and welcome to PriusChat!). The 2005 base price is $21,275, so that would be an increase of only $140.

Do you know whether those estimated package prices include the $540 delivery charge that Toyota includes in the MSRP figures?

I placed an order for a 2006 at my local dealer last night. They gave me this sheet of paper that appears to be their placed order with Toyota.

In brief, it lists and details the 2006 Prius packages, colours, and estimated prices (MSRP).

    Summary:
    • There are two new colors: Magnetic Gray and Silver Pine
    • One colour was removed: Tideland Pearl
    • There are two interior colour options: Gray and Beige
    • There are four packages that this dealer ordered: #3 HF, #6 HK, #7 NL, #8 NW
Price of car w/o options would appear to be $21,415. Options packages cost:
    #3 HF: $1,450
    #6 HK: $3,815
    #7 NL: $5,715
    #8 NW: $6,875

My dealer really wasn't sure when they'd come in. He said it could be anywhere from November to January, and wasn't ruling out beyond that. I'll be getting a call when the first shipment reaches the port of LA.

Note that if you've ordered a 2005 Prius, you will NOT automatically be on the waiting list for the 2006 ones when they're in. However, it seems that very few people know about them: I was only the third person at that dealer to have ordered a 2006. Meaning that now may be a good time to switch your order - you might even get it faster!

PS: I'm located in San Jose, Ca, USA. Ordered the option package #7 NL

PSS: Added a PDF version of this (thanks, Oswaldo!)

Emmett - Where are You Located?

Great news seeing anything from Toyota with 2006 Prius written on it. Any chance you can post a clearer copy of the "accessory details"; hoping to find something new and unposted (like power leather seats).

    Thanks,

I updated my post with my location (San Jose, Ca).

And let me guess - you're using Firefox (like me), aren't you? *g* Firefox automatically shrinks images to fit the window. If you click on it, you'll see it in full 200dpi detail.

Thanks for Adding your Location; wish everyone would!

I'm not using Firefox; it just opens in an unknown Explorer application and the smaller print is mostly unreadable. I did a cut and paste and was able to enlarge and read; no power seats.

    Thanks

Ah, I just tried it in MSIE myself. It appears that IE also shrinks the image, but doesn't make it as easy to zoom in. In order to zoom in, right click on the image. An icon will appear in the lower right. Left click on that icon and you'll zoom in to full resolution.

Either that or just save the attachment and view it in your favourite jpeg viewer. :)

On further inspection, IE seems to be somewhat random about when that icon appears. Sometimes it will when left clicking near the bottom of the image. Sometimes not.

Ah, yet another wonderful quirk of IE.

Thanks, Kirk! This is great info. We've been expecting a jump of $300-$500 in the price. I'm going to call my guy on Monday to see if he has any updated news. I figure that I haven't talked to him in the past month, so it about about time to touchbase.

Actually, It isn't random at all, just hover your cursor on the image for a couple of seconds, and the enlarge icon will appear everytime in the lower left corner of the image.

I notice on that image it says prices are estimated, and under "Suffix Analysis" it lists "2005model", so I guess this isn't quite the definitive pricing we hoped for.

Ah, thanks. I wasn't leaving it sitting still long enough. :)

And yes, this is estimated pricing, so it could change drastically. My guess is that it'll be within a couple hundred of the estimate.

One thing I haven't figured out, however: the available interior for a Seaside Pearl exterior (my first choice) is 08. That code isn't listed in the interior table!

You've got to post this on the main thread - I think it'll get more readership there.
