Green Drive Expo is coming to California; Free admission through PriusChat

There is a cafe and bar right next to the main hall in the building. It's called the Boilerhouse and is housed in the old boiler room of the facility (which was originally a Ford Motor Auto Assembly Plant).

 

This is the same people who are catering food for the day inside the hall.

 

I'm not a coffee connoisseur but Courtyard Richmond Berkeley hotel room amenities and highlights in Berkeley under room amenities mentions coffee maker / tea service. Maybe hotel room coffee would be sufficient for a caffeine fix?

 

There's coffee in the lobby and I always manage to grab a cup before I walk out the door.

 

Well, since I don't think that I'll be anywhere near the hotel until the afternoon of Saturday, I'm looking at the whole morning and early afternoon at the event before I can avail myself of hotel coffee.

We're driving in on Saturday morning from Sacramento. Early.

 

I'm willing to hug anything that holds still long enough. Or... in Hill's case... that I don't need a step-ladder for.

Few hundred miles? I'm thinking more like 60. Least I hope so, as I'm displaying the Rav there.

Fortunately, I did.

 

Mmmm....cookies. And coffee. And Darell's presenting! This is getting better all the time. Will there be bicycles?

Really? We're having a gas-burning contest? Ah... I see that EVs can be part of it. Should definitely call it something different. I won't be burning ANY gallons.

 

Wow. I don't think I've ever been favorably compared to (or at least included in a list with) cookies and coffee before. That's about the nicest compliment I've ever had!

About the bicycle thing - I'm always torn. When people think of green transportation, they think of EVs and hybrids (some folks even get confused and think of fuel cells, but that's a different story). But of course my bicycle is my main transportation, and is far greener than my EV or my Prius. How much attention would my bicycle get if I rode it down there, and parked it on display? Zippidy do dah. And to add to the insult, there will likely be *powered* bikes on display as "green transportation" - almost as if that's better than human power. Ug. It has to be shiny and neat and out of the ordinary to attract any attention. Too few people understand what an important role bicycles can play in the transportation arena. Mostly they're thought of as toys for kids.

My guess is that I'll end up talking about bicycles at least a wee bit!

Good news! Well for me and my guests anyway.

Chemo doesn't start till Oct. 12th! So I'll be feeling great for the event and my guests don't have to listen to me get sick all night long. Well, I guess that depends on who tries dancing on the hotel bar table this time.
