AIC-100i issues

    I did the group buy on the AIC-100i, but I can't find that thread anymore by searching for AIC-100i or group buy or anything.

    Anyhow, I was looking for the installation guide that was posted because I remember a reference to a noise filter that some have used.

    When I first installed the AIC-100i a couple weeks ago, I didn't notice any need for a filter. Now I'm playing tracks with many different levels, and noticing some annoying noise.

    It seems to severely happen during track changes, and then for the first 5-10 seconds of the track, whereafter it diminishes almost completely. However, there is still a cassette-tape adapter-esque hissing that is still present that was one of my main hope-to-be-rid-of reasons I bought this device.

    So, two things-- am I just searching on the wrong terms to find the original post and/or installation guide? Has anyone else had as significant of audio noise problems as I am having, and does the Radio Shack filter mentioned in that guide solve that?

    You are not the only one experiencing a loss of all PriusChat postings since mid-August. We are all in that boat, and Danny may be able to restore them soon, according to his recent post.

    The Radio Shack item is a Ground Loop isolator. Others may be able to provide a part number. It was under $30 and had standard connectors.

    The installation guide (which I downloaded before the crash) is written and updated by hybrideyes. Perhaps it is time to repost that item or send hybrideyes a PM for help. Because hybrideyes registered in August I am not sure if that user name is valid right now, though I have seen recent posts. Good luck.

    Here's the "2nd edition" of hybrideyes extremely excellent AIC-100i installation instructions (dated Sept. 28, 2005). I think he made some slight modifications following this one, but nothing major.

    BTW, I have seen him post since the crash, so he's still around. We AIC-100i owners owe him some major thanks for this instruction set!

    On the last page of the install manual for the AIC-100i, it gives the Radio Shack part number for the ground loop isolator. P/N 270-054

    You will also need a pair of gender changers as the ground loop isolator has male inputs.
