    Hi there.

    This is my first post though I've been loitering for a while. I bought my 2006 Prius in July, having retired a 25 year old Mercedes Diesel Estate, S124 which was overcome by rust.

    I'm loving the prius and getting used to a totally different car.

    Question: I'm looking for 4 winter tyres for the car. Does anyone have any recommendation on particular brands for the Prius and experience with any.

    All info gratefully received. We're expecting another cold winter up here.

    Cheers.

    Tim.

    Welcome! You can do a search and find several threads on tires/tyres.

    I picked this one since it was for you folks across the pond: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-modifications/48999-need-tire-advice-prius-in-europe.html

    I've seen several favorable comments about the Nokians, often from people in Canada and they get a lot of snow.

    BTW - Are you up around the Cairngorms? My sister lived in Kilmarnok and we visited her and tramped around Scotland a bit on our honeymoon. I'd love to go back!

    Hi Tim. You might want to ask this question in the UK Prius forums as the tyres sold in US & Canada are often completely different to the ones we get here. Even if the name and size are the same they can turn out to be differing tread patterns etc.

    Also, welcome to this forum. It's a complete mine of information and as there are not many differences between the European & US Prius most of the info applies to us. Keep hunting for info on winter tyres though, as after the snow we had in January this year, I might the in the market for some this year.

    Hi Tim !

    I did a lot of research on-line and with the great people here... with that being said... I went with the Nokian WRG2's.

    Nokian Tyres North America

    I live in New York State and we tend to get a lot of snow. We just put them on so no winter experince yet.

    Here is the link to my post and the discussion that followed here a few months back;

    Like another member said, make sure they are the same tire there as they would be here. :)

    I really like Nokian WRG2 tires, which is what we are currently running. No loss of mileage, reasonably quiet, and good control. I run them year round.
