Tempted to post pictures from today's ride... but I sweated enough to make that REALLY undesirable. Ewww.

If I'm gonna get up in the morning, I supposed I should also think about going to bed.

 

No kidding... the northern contingent here needs to grab some sleep, too.

 

I'm a remote part of that contingent. I'm just a bit West of where you are! See you in Richmond tomorrow morning!

 

By the way, I might be at the show, too. I just printed out my free ticket.

Are there any plans for a Prius Chat meetup?

 

Don't forget my pictures! I need lots and lots of embarrassing pictures of everyone *read hyo...* to make up for the fact that I couldn't come.

 

There will be a bunch of us hanging out at the hotel afterward. A few of us will also be showing out cars so just look for the white Prius with Dalmatian spots and we'll make sure you are kept in the loop.

 

I should be there between 9:00 and 10:00 am today. Are there going to be people with Prius Chat stickers, buttons and hats so I can identify them?

Nissan did not allow the public to drive the Leaf at this event because it was a pre-production unit.

 

While I did not get to drive it, I can say that there is a lot of headroom in that car! I wore my cowboy hat and could sit up completely straight and still had a couple inches to spare. Leg room felt similar to my GenII Prius.

 

pre production would be cool. one thing i learned from the Volt test drive. in person experiences make a whole lot of difference. until then, i pretty equated the Volt to be similar in size even a bit larger in some respects than the Prius, but that was not the case. the Volt was smaller in every respect.

so how was the size of the Leaf in comparison to a 2010?

 

Not in the rear seat!

Smaller. The rear cargo area is what I'd call "minimal." A nice deep well, but not a wide opening, nor a long floor like we're spoiled with in the Prius. Rear seat room definitely tighter. A GREAT commuter car that can double up as a people mover when needed. But definitely smaller than the Prius by all metrics that I could discern.

Thanks to modern technology, you can now see me in full EV goober mode in living color. I was on a panel discussion of "experienced EV owners." Directly after our panel, we were grabbed to do this quick teaser. Every word was broadcast throughout the huge building, so we are all hearing our words echoed back to us. A bit disconcerting! I'm the third guy in the obvious shirt.
