    Hello,

I just purchased a Blizzard Pearl with the Dark Gray interior. I am thinking of adding aftermarket leather.

I did a search, but did not find a whole lot of pictures of 2010's with aftermarket leather. I am trying to decide to just go with a solid set to match the Dark Gray, or to go with a two-tone type style.

I would love to see pictures of your aftermarket leather. Hopefully this will help me make my choice.

    Thanks everyone!!

    Brandon

There are several MFGs of aftermarket.. Most (if not all) support the side airbags.

Clazzio has the 'self-install' portion - and it doesn't look bad - it's pretty nice for the price (rhyme intended). I think around $500ish???

Katzkin is what the dealer uses aftermarket. I've done Katzkin in two 2010s, and compared with my neighbors factory leather, maybe it may look better (subjectively) - you can choose colors, which I think gives the nod to Katz. Cost (depending on sales going on at any given time, and install) seems to run in the $1K range. Katz (there are others) is different from Clazzio - the installer *removes* the interior cloth, and replaces it (not slip on). Katz vs Claz also give many 'extras' - meaning door covers, panel covers - rear seat 'vent' etc. I think it's like 11 pieces - 4 front door, 2 front seat, center console, back seat, center- arm, 2 back panels (sides of back seats) .

Note - Kat has two leathers - Tuscany and regular - Tuscany costs more (but usually is one sale - that's all I've ever used or seen).

From a dealer perspective, go with Katzkin. I have been using it for 17 years and have not had a problem with their product. Can be a pain to install if you aren't familiar with the procedure, but definitely worth the money.

I'll add in - Clazzio has no door trim, or rear seat side trim.

That said, you can for $50 (cost of goods) buy the equivalent vinyl stuff, cut it, and paste it - that is what the Katz does - a matching vinyl that gets glued on (HARD), then glue it, and return it -not a do-it-yourself job. I've seen it, thought I could do it, and stand happy that I did not go there (twice).

rrolff, so if I went clazzio, you're saying to send in the trim pieces to Katz? I'm not quite following

Anyone try faux leather seat covers from www.seatskins.net $259.00?

EDIT: Never mind that appears to be for the front seat only.

No - Clazzio has no door trim - for that, you would need to go out and buy some matching vinyl (at an upholstery shop) - cut it, remove the trim, and glue the stuff on - I just wold not recommend this because the door arm rests seemed to be a bitch for the installer to take apart, and then put back on.

I'd highly recommend just spending a bit more, and getting Katz - especially due to all the trim it comes with...

The Katzkin website has a feature by which you can start with a generic seat and then modify it for:

    • multiple colors,
    • if more than one color then where the secondary color is placed,
    • whether you have some of all of the leather perforated,
    • whether you choose piping (matching or contrasting color),
    • whether you choose double stitching (matching or contrasting color),
    • whether you choose a logo/wording for the top of the front seats (for example, "special edition") etc.
    • and more.
I had a Katzkin interior installed on my former Gen II Prius, and the package had outstanding quality. (I had an installer put them in rather than my doing so.)

They have a color which is a dead-on match for the 2010 bisque, but I'm not sure of their name for it. It might be "beach". (I took a shop's samples out and matched them to my 2010 bisque interior when I was thinking of adding leather to mine.) And, as others have said, Katzkin is what the dealers around here seem to use to add leather before delivery of a car which needs it added.

Thanks for all of the replies!

So, we ended up trading in my wife's Accord and bought her a Prius as well. I am having aftermarket leather installed in hers tomorrow. It looks like I will end up making a contribution to my own thread shortly! :D Should I thank myself in advance?! :p

I also ended up swapping mine for a Blizzard Pearl and Dark Gray interior. I can't wait to see how hers turns out. I will post some pics tomorrow.

Maybe it's me, but the lack of side trims don't bother me.

Her leather turned out great! The pics make the mats look dark / dirty and the leather look lighter. It is really a perfect match for the dark gray.

autointeriorslive.com normally has very good specials for the leather (Tuscany upgrade etc).

I'd browse it for what it's worth (I've bought two Kat kits over the last year - both were significantly reduced in price).

IMHO it is a great website, and shows all options...

Clazzio is great on a budget - but Katz have a very 'OEM' look when installed. Cost is maybe $400 more than Cl (??) - I think you can normally get the Katz Tuscany leather around $1K installed.... Your mileage may vary - and it seems timing (if there is a sale) is key...

These pics probably do a good job at showing some extra trim - note the door on the backseat opposite side (has 'leather' really vinyl), and in the front of the pic, note the 'leather' on the column before the seat.
