2005 w/ Smart Key Failed to start. Lots of lights appearing on dash. Message on display referenced the brake on an incline. Then the red triangle. I don't normally insert the smart key, but after the problem, I inserted the smart key, but it wouldn't come out. After pressing power key and parking several times, it finally came out. I also disabled the auto smart key option. It finally did start. Also, I let the car idle for 2-3 min. and the red triangle came on without warning. Could this be the 12 volt battery?, or something more serious.

Yes it can be that the 12v battery needs to be replaced. Is it the original battery?

Yes its the original battery. Any suggestions besides going to a Toyota dealer, just to save $$$.

You can replace it with an Optima (better battery than original). Go to eLearnaid.com for the details. They sell the battery with a kit to adapt it. It fits right in where the original is. They send very good instructions and the job is easy.

I put one in my 07 a couple months ago.
