Suspension: Blitz vs. TRD Sportivo vs. B&G vs. Modellista?

    I believe H&R springs are the same deal as Eibach -that is, they don't make em for the Touring.

    B&G springs could work but they only lower it an inch. I wanted one point FOUR ". I also already know Eibach's look good, thanks to you Sup.

    all aftermarket springs will work with any model prius. so you could rock eibach h&r etc. if you are after a drop that low you should save up and buy the tanabe coilovers and do it right the first time.

    Gigabyte have you lowered your Touring/ or how do you know for sure it will work?

    yes i have lowered my touring. the springs are the same on both models, just the rates are different.

    Gigabyte you are the person I've been needing to talk to!! Ok but first, would you agree that the Touring and regular springs are NOT the sam?e-the Touring springs are 85mm diameter rather than 77mm and are stiffer. They share the same uncompressed height however. I've learned all this from a week's worth of research on PriusChat. Now please tell me we're on the same page about that.

    Now, that all seems irrelevant if you're saying it doesn't affect the fitment, installation, and sitment of lowering springs. SO, which brand springs did you use? Did you need a camber kit? Any problems or issues since installation? Thank you so much!

    that is correct, you can use any spring just as long theyre made for the prius. i have trd sportivo springs on my touring. i dont know if i need a camber kit yet, im waiting to put about a 1000 miles on the springs to ensure theyre settled before i do that. the trds are a modest drop at about 3/4" in the front and 1/2" in the back. no issues since install. ive driven about 500 miles so far. the ride is still factory smooth and handles great in the curves. it wouldnt hurt to have a camber kit. amazon has eibach kits for cheap http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CNGO14/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller= only 22 bucks.

    Thanks again Gigabyte. I did some quick research on the TRD Sportivo springs you installed - and under the description for the TRD suspension, they seem to always say 'Except Touring.' Is this correct? For reference sake, I hope so. That way we know 'Except/Exculding Touring' doesn't mean anything.

    As for the alignment kit, I plan to go in for an alignment after my springs are installed (I get free lifetime alignments at Firestone). Is this sufficient enough to obviate purchasing the alignment kit?

    Finally, if I plan to get new rims sometime, is it recommended to lower the car AFTER I get new rims? Before? I don't think it matters but I feel like I've heard something about this issue before, something with seeing how the car sits.

    I spoke with Eibach R&D again today, and I got more information because this time he kindly pulled out his notes on the Prius: He said that the rear dampers/shock absorbers are larger on the Touring than the base model. Therefore, their Eibach springs are smaller than the Touring springs, and it will not sit right on the damper. Thoughts?

    Gigabyte - were your TRD sportivo springs smaller than the Touring springs?
