AH! I got duped! It's my fault though because I didn't do enough homework (meaning I didn't read enough on Prius Chat). All I remembered when talking to the finance guy was that I could get the platinum coverage here for about $1100. I didn't recall the details like that it is for 100k miles. I also hadn't read that there is no deductible.

At first the platinum service offered was for 6 years 75k miles for $1800! Right off the bat he 'did me a favor' by upping it from 6 to 7 years but for same mileage. I turned it down along with most other things. He asked why I turned down the warranty and I told him I knew I could get it for about $1100. He matched the price, so I got it... but after I get home I noticed that I had overlooked a $100 deductible (of course he didn't tell me about it). AND I failed to realize that it should be 100k miles.

I've submitted a quote over at warranty shack. So I look forward to hearing from Troy soon!

For anyone who has cancelled their dealer bought warranty, did you just call up the finance guy that sold it to you? I see a 1-800 number on the 'refunds' section of my agreement. Wondering which would get the job done the fastest.

Here's an interesting voice message that was left for me last Friday. Unfortunately, it was left via a phone with caller ID blocking...so it's listed it as a "Private Caller" and I have no idea who it is, or from which dealership.

Maybe someone here recognizes the voice?

That's terrible Troy. This is why people should just polietly say, I don't want the warranty, when buying a car without elaborating and then just buy the warranty here from Troy. I know people like to have the warranty included in their financing sometimes but you should still refrain from saying who's selling the warranty for what price.

I agree with paprius4030 that Troy shouldn't have to be threatened like that & that everybody refrain from identifying Troy as the provider of pretty much the best deal around regarding the official Toyota Financial Services extended warranty. I've always cautioned everyone (when I have made my recommendations about the price for Troy's warranties) that if they wish to get their best deal from their own dealers or a price match from them [in case they're afraid of dealing with Troy long distance (snail mail, e-mail, or phone), which fear they should not have (I've personally bought mine from Troy) or want to get it rolled into their financing], NOT to say who was providing it at that price.Troy has been really great to us in the Prius community & we should not turn the dogs on him by revealing his identity when declining the extended warranties at some of the ridiculous prices some dealers have been asking.

I think I heard once that the cost to the dealers for the 7-yr/100,000 mile/$0 deductible extended warranty is around $600 & I had no problem handing my $990 over to Troy for that warranty back when I got mine. It is the real thing (Toyota's official one) & Troy definitely gives the best deal around at a price that is great but still gives him & his dealership a fair profit. What I do have a problem with is the dealers who are asking $1,500, $2,000, $2,500, or even $3,000 for the same warranty or not even offering the Toyota warranty but are pushing a worthless 3rd party one on a buyer saying that each day he waits to make the decision will cost him more (that's the way my dealer presented his warranty pitch, so I knew it was a 3rd party one). The dealers like the one who threatened Troy aren't "trying to make a living" (as he stated in the recorded threat), but instead are try to make a KILLING. They can also make a living by matching Troy's price, but they won't be able to buy a new yacht or airplane.

We who don't appreciate those tactics & threats should find out who that dealer is (& others like him) & "come visit him" (a big public turnout with picket signs & TV cameras comes to mind). Just my 2 cents.

hi there, trying to determine if this warranty is valid in Canada. I pick up my new 2010 Gen (??? I didn't know they had numbers) It is the technology package with the nav, leather, solar panels etc. Dealer wanted to sell me a 60 month or 160K for $2019 or a 72 month with 200K at $2700! Seems a little crazy to me. Is the price different for someone 36 months into a purchase as compared to a new car buyer? My 60 month extended plan for my 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid was only $880 so red flags went up with these numbers.

My dealer is a real sweetheart - can yours beat them?

CNA National Warranty "Automotive Preferred Care" 72 months / 100k miles, $100 deductible = $2,695. Oh, including the "Seal and Gasket Package", which is supposed to be for used vehicles with 100k miles or less. (But it excludes such items as auto sound, intelligent cruise control sensors, etc. etc.)

Oh, and they offer a $1,495 two year "vehicle replacement enhancement" plan - if stolen and disappears for thirty days, or deemed a total loss in case of theft, for the two year period they will pay the difference between what your insurance company will pay you and the cost of a new replacement vehicle to a max of $20,000.

With friends like this, who needs enemas? Thanks, Danny and Troy!

All - I just purchased my 2010 Prius today with an extended service agreement. I would like to cancel the service agreement as soon as possible. Do I cancel through Toyota Financial or through the dealership. Also if I cancel through the dealership, do they recalculate my monthly payments?

    Thanks.

Troy saved me a lot of money on a Platinum Extended Warranty for my 2009 Prius. I was quoted $1,600 for 7 yr./100,000 mile coverage and I paid $1,385 for 7 yr/125,000 miles. More miles and still saved money.

Troy was great to work with and I recommend anyone interested in an extended warranty for your Prius to give him a call.

    Thanks Troy !!

I am not clear as to when the extended warranty starts. Does it start after the original 3 year warranty is over? This would make a total of ten years coverage? Or not?

7-year warranty means 4 additional years.

I noticed that these warranties cover Lexus and Scion but I do not see the option to click for a quote on a Lexus vehicle.

Any ideas on how to get a quote for a Lexus RX350?
