Problems with Bluetooth sound

    I've gotten the Bluetooth connection to my phone to work fine, but hearing and talking cuts in and out constantly in the car. I've put on the mute to see if the noise interference is a problem and it makes no different. Anyone have any advice?

    The only thing I can think to add would be to turn down the speaker volume--if too loud it can feedback to the microphone. When you push the 'call/answer' button on the steering wheel then select/dial a number there is a row of yellow dashes at the bottom of the screen with a minus on the left and a plus on the right...I have mine set with the last yellow dash 3 spaces from the far right. (i.e. volume about 2/3rd up)

    Give that a try, if you haven't already. Also, check and make sure your cell signal is strong in the areas you're calling to be sure it isn't something simple like that.

    FYI, I had exactly the same problem with a Sony-Ericsson T616 -- when connected via bluetooth to the Prius, it was nearly unusable due to dropouts. Other than this one problem, the phone worked perfectly.

    The good news is that it was simply a bad phone, I had it replaced with a different T616 and it works perfectly all the time now. I use it in the car daily with no problems.

    I have had trouble hearing others and they have had trouble hearing me. I more or less solved the latter problem. The microphone is quite sensitive and I have found that speaking in a normal conversational tone, as if I was speaking to a passenger helps.

    This change also seems to help a little hearing others; I am not sure why.

    Otherwise, I just have to get used to the sound (too much bass and it comes from one speaker). I agree with others that turning down the volume helps.

    I've had similar, but different issues with my Bluetooth phone. I'm using a Nokia 3650 handset and while most calls are audible, sometimes the conversation just sounds "muffled", almost as if the person on the other end is speaking into a pillow.

    While fishing around in the service menus, I discovered a bluetooth setting called "Voice Quality" or something like that. It's presently set at 3. Unfortunately I can't adjust this during a call to see what helps, but if I knew what the number represented, I could tune it for better quality.

    Any thoughts on this? The repair manuals don't have much info on this.

    Ah, what Bluetooth phone do you have? I use a T610--works perfectly....it's the twin of the T616. The 3650 works well too. Not sure what your question is.

    ooops, I have a Siemens S56. Anyone use it? I ordered my car right after xmas, and i was originally told 8 weeks, but now I'm being told 6 months. Eh, whatever, will give me more time to save I guess. I'm just driving much more now...and I want my car!

    :D :D :D I also have the Siemens S56 but have not yet programed the car to it. I have energised the Bluetooth on the phone. The dealer expert has agreed to program the screen for me and then I'll be in business. :!:

    George,
    I suggest you take a look at http://www.John1701A.com and look at his instructions for setting up the bluetooth on the Prius. There's no need to go to the dealer "expert", besides, if your battery ever dies, or you change phones, or whatever you'll need to do it anyway, so you might as well figure it out yourself. Besides, you're going to be considered an 'expert' when everyone else in the neighborhood gets a Prius and you don't wanna look like you don't know what your doing! :p
