This thread keeps coming up - I put lots of poison in my garage - but *wish* someone would take pics of the spots they enter (air ducts) - I'd go to Home Depot and get wire mesh today if I knew where to place it...

I do know there are two easy accesses in the rear sides of the car (behind battery - and the equiv on the other side) - found them when I soundproffed the rear...

    Pics???

I have cats, but they're getting old, and sometimes they're too lazy to chase after the mieces. Sometimes what I do with my motorcycles is to place a glue trap under the vehicle. I've never had a problem.
You're NEVER going to put enough wire mesh around a car to keep a mouse from getting into the engine compartment, and once they get in there, they're going to find SOMETHING interesting (and probably expensive!) to chew on.

It's not feasible to rodent-proof *any* modern car after manufacture. You just have to keep them away from the car by excluding them from its parking space, or using the car frequently enough to discourage them, or with repellents.

I've been trapping mice in the garage. It has been an on going battle. It is starting to concern me. My wife had a nest in her Civic heater. Took a year before the dead mouse smell went away, after I cleaned it twice. My old Jetta had a mouse knaw through the fuel tank vent. It would leak when full. I had to drop the tank and axle to fix it. A neighbors cat has been using the car tent were the Civic lives as a bathroom.. Smells terrible. But I have not seen much mice evidence since. I wonder if using cat urine litter clumps on the garage floor would work to deter mice. Also there are LED strobe lights to deter mice, has anyone tried those?

That should get the attention of the Toyota mechanic, next time you have the car serviced. Perhaps you should mount a small camera and recorder as well, so you can record the response and post it on YouTube.

Ooo, that's a good idea. In fact, why not get the kind of snake that comes all coiled up in a can? But get it scaled up to be sized appropriately to fit in your car under the hood. And pull out the engine and transaxle to make room. Then drop your car off, and let them know that it won't start, and you think it has something to do with the mice that you just can't keep out of it! :biggrin1:
