My brand new Prius III is doing GREAT! And so am I.

I got the car on Tuesday, and put 250 miles on it by this afternoon. I decided to fill up, and put exactly 5 gallons in when it cut off. That equates to 50 MPG!

Great, hope it keeps up or gets better.

Sandy, I hope your Prius color is sandy beach metallic.

That's about what I got on my first tank (new owner also). By the 3rd, I was pushing 54. Unfortunately, the last couple of tanks have had a lot of hwy so those have come in around 51 but so far not one tank under 50!!!

Yes - When I bought the car I loved the color. I did not know what it was called. Then as I was looking over the papers, I found out that it was Sandy Beach!

My name and my favorite place. One more reason in what I hope will be a long list of reasons why I love this car!

On my EXTENDED test drive last weekend (almost 240 miles), I put in @ 1/2 tank of the brand of gas I normally run. I drove the car @ 50-50 highway/city. Averaged 50.3 per the readout.

Monday morning, when I actually purchased the car, the dealer filled it with a different brand of gas. I was down to 2 "bricks". Probably 60/40 city driving this week....48+ mpg. Temps are @ the same. As I still have over 1/2 tank I'll keep going before I fill it with "my" brand of gas. It will be interesting to see what happens; altho the temps are supposed to go down, so that won't help. However, in colder weather (30s or less) I will not go below 1/2 tank b4 refilling.

So far it is quite an impre$$ive lil car! DFO :D

    Congrats!!!
You're smarter than I am. It took me three tanks to go into the fiftys...but I'm something of a reformed gearhead...and I'm used to using the throttle like an "on-off" switch when I ride.
I've found that I can indeed stay above 50 MPG, without being a menace to highway navigation---which is something I rather doubted when I was first introduced to this unique little car.

I wish you many happy driving miles!!!
