    Hello all,

New to the forum and shopping for my first Prius. I looked at a 2004 Prius that was dark gray... although I've done research - and it seems as though they didn't make gray ones in 2004. Can anyone chime in? Am I wrong? Was there some special edition or something? It doesn't appear to be repainted....

I feel suspicious, I can't reconcile the paint color and year...

    Thanks for the help.

    Tom

:welcome: The first year for Magnetic Gray was 2006. I don't have the 2004 booklet so I don't know what you may have seen. A 2004 will have black tail light tips and will not have badging on the front fenders. Check the VIN at Toyota Owners Online | Official Toyota Owners Website to get the dealer service records & the color.

The gray 2004 you speak of is not the Magnetic Gray which was a darker gray with more metal flake. What you saw was Tideland Pearl. The TP is slightly more green.

Another way you can distinguish the color is by looking at the taillights. A taillight with a tinted top portion is the 2004-2005 version (i.e, Tideland Pearl). A completely clear taillight is the 2006+ models (i.e., Magnetic Gray).

Thans you both for the quick replies!

So I went to the Toyota Owners club site as reccommended and sure enough it's Tideland Pearl... Man I didn't see a hint of green in that thing when I drove it. Must have been the light.

And, I must say that Toyota Owners site is AMAZING! Being able to go back and see all the details on the service records, that was a real find! Realy great suggestion...

Really? Ours is Tideland and I wouldn't even think to call it grey, its very green.

Funny how people perceive colors differently...
