    Yeah, it's just a car, very true. It's hard. Suffering a little bit from anxiety disorder and obsessive/compulsive. Much better after a little Paxil. What a miracle!

    Even though it's just a car, it's my (and my wife's) first major purchase (after the condo). We've been putting aside an extra wad of money every paycheck into our car fund - now it's time to use up all that money.

    My wife's father is from the school of thought where you never take a loan out on a car. We've since adopted his idealism. His fav. technique of car buying is to go in, find the car he wants, then start dealing. In the end, he'll pull out the check book and say, I'll write you a check right now if you knock off an extra $1500. It usually works.

    I was hoping to go that route with the Prius, but MSRP is the way to go unfortunately. Ever check out the website fightingchance.com? Very cool.

    Too bad it won't work for Prius.

    Any time JMcPhee. :rolleyes: Good memory...Now If we could get the magnetic grey earlier than mid next year I would go for it. Unfortunately I will be without a car if I wait that long. So I had to settle for the classic grey.

    First time poster, but I've been lurking here for months now. I actually bought my wife an '02 Prius over three years ago, and have been very happy with it.

    I'm now in the market for a car myself.

    Aaaanyway, in reviewing this (now merged) thread, it seems the conversation has shifted to colors, but I'd like to get an idea of what confidence we can have in the package pricing that has been posted here? It does seem to be reasonable in terms of price increase.

    A minor update from my dealer via v-mail today. He said delivery has slipped and cars will be shipped beginning mid-November. That's one week later than he said previously. However, I want to know if he means shipped from Japan or Portland port. There's a 2-3 week difference depending on whether the ship first stops in Vancouver, B.C., or proceeds directly to Portland. I'll check back with him tomorrow.

    Regarding the speculation on colors, there will be only one silver for 2006MY, Classic Silver Metallic. It's a new color to the Prius line, not a renamed MSM. I posted my impressions from placing a painted sample plate on every panel of my current MSM Prius in direct sun. CSM is brighter, with slightly more bluish tinted metallic bits visible through the clearcoat. I saw the color on a 2006 Lexus last weekend and think it's attractive and more Audi-like than MSM. Both look very good on Prius, IMO.

    ON the subject of changes and options.....

    Noticed that intermittent rear wiper is now listed as standard, and not as part of packages as it was for '05.

    Noticed that cassette player seems to be GONE, based on high-res pics of '06.

    I'm hearing complaints around here about adding rear camera to all packages simply for $$. The old 6 pkg was $5065, new 8 pkg is $6875 (est). So for $1810, you're getting leather ($1000+), newer JBL system w/jack & mp3 ($$??), and camera. Seems reasonable to me.

    Any thoughts anyone?

    I read somewhere that RC will only add $50 to affected packages. My problem is twofold. I'd rather have that $50 go toward a more adjustable driver's seat, a potentially greater safety feature, and give buyers a choice of all packages in every region. \rant

    These prices have been on priusonline. The guy says they are 'official' but he works for a dealer in CA I think. Also, since each region is supposedly getting different packages he only lists prices for pkgs in his region. here they are:

    HE=package #3=$1.450.00 $21.865.00 ( Base Car+ Freight+Option )
    GY=side curtain air bags, painted door handle w/Antenna
    KE=keyless entry with smart entry feature rear Camera.

    HK=package #6=$3.815.00 $21.865.00 ( Base Car+Freight+Option )

    Basically seems to me after everything a loaded #8 will go for just shy of 29k.

    That has actually been updated a few weeks ago. I actually posted a link to the pdf of the my06 specs and packages but no one noticed or seemed to care or responded. For me, that was definite evidence of all the speculations of changes and whatnot if Toytota was posting all the packages and colors and option packages of the my06 on its pressroom site.
