Hi pEEf please post details how to do this. If you automate it later all the better. Would like to get a little more top speed at least to 60kmh as some of my trips here are local and quite short. It irritates me when the ICE kicks in when im ev mode at 47kmh..

    Regards

I'm not sure what good it would do to spoof the SOC when there is not sufficient power in the battery to use. THe only reason I can think of to spoof the SOC is a situation where you have another battery pack in parallel that can handle the current (such as plug-in supply or PICC setup) As for enginer, I don't believe that would benefit you in any way.

What would help, as far as a computer modification with the enginer setup would be when driving at highway speeds to have the system draw more power from the HV battery and less from the ICE. My experience so far on the highway is that the Prius computer pretty much wants to run 100 on gasoline and only use a boost from the HV battery in cases of heavy acceleration.

I would appreciate a 'how to' very much too pEEf. Hope you will explain what the mod exactly does as well. It sounds very interesting.

The benefit is when I take my kids to daycare and the ICE kicks in 100 yards before I get there because the HV pack is depleted. If I was able to either charge it above 80%, say perhaps 85% or draw it down below 45%, say 40% I would be able to make the entire trip in EV only and let the HV pack recharge via the Enginer system while I am dropping them off.

Oh I see. You are wanting to use more of the Toyota HV pack's capacity than is normally allowed. I don't think that'd be such a great idea. In fact, I've made it a point to only drive on EV mode when I know I can more or less sustain 6 to 7 bars on my MFD readout. If I know the trip will begin to drain the battery down more than that, I switch out of EV mode and drive in blended unless I have just another 10 seconds to go or something. I do not want to shorten the life of the hybrid battery, since it costs almost what the Enginer kit costs and my vehicle is out of warranty. Of course, even if it was under warranty, you can bet Toyota wouldn't replace it if they saw my setup.

The way my Enginer system has been working lately, it is impossible for me to maintain 6-7 bars in EV mode. I can't even precharge the HV pack to more than 65% SOC.

Do you think that ALL of this interactive information is being keep in secret?
Do you think that TMS is not monitoring all this threads?
Do you think that in the event of a dispute of a warranty claim for a HV battery assembly, all of this and related names and information will not be relevant in their favor for denial ?

Did you have your Enginer "professionally" installed?

The problem isn't whether it was "professionally" installed or DIY. The problem is that when the temps drop near freezing or below, the DC-DC converter just doesn't run much.

Do you think TMS doesn't have better things to do?
Do you think they would be able to figure out exactly who we are?

Hey!!, hold on on your horses!!! I'm not attacking you.....
My comments are a quote of advise and ....

YES, TMS has a lot to do and it's part of their job; I've been dealing with them since 2005 with Prii.

Good for you, with more relevance to point out that you have a screwed up Enginer equipment.
Besides, were you the one from North Milford asking for quality reviews of PHEV equipment, CANView in specific a while back?

Yes I do believe I have a problem with my system. The converter was sent back to Enginer where they bumped up the Amperage. Since I got it back it still is underperforming. My guess is the Voltage is set a bit too low to fully charge the HV pack while parked.

Yes again, New Milford actually. I was very interested in the CANView/BMS+ system but it is a bit too DIY for me. I still like that system and would favor it if it was available more as a kit minus the batteries.
