Remarks: I zero'd my trip odometer, so I do not have the other information. I will provide the details on my next fill-up. Due to cold weather engine warm-up, my MPG has dropped to 40MPG on average for the past month. Normal, since I encountered the same situation with my 2002 Prius, which I drove for over 8 years.

Remarks: See attached pic for details of MFD and for elevation profile during trip (the first from left, mountain, are actually the alps, the second one the appennini mountain range); tires at 2.5/2.4 bar (F/R) or 36/35 psi, temperatures from -5C to 5C; Auto heating, A/C off, set to 21C, driver only, a little luggage (<10kg).

I would be very interested in knowing what a modern comparable TDI german car would do on the same trip in the same conditions - same? less? more??

Thanks for posting, nice to see others are getting the lower mpg also. Another reason to "hate" winter... or at least all the lousy weather.

Well, it's not just winter - as you see from the profile, the road travelled is far from being "flat" - so I am actually quite pleased with the overall fuel consumption on this trip. :)

Since owning the Prius I have hardly had the chance to drive it on flat roads for any appreciable length... :(

ajc and mikestrader, your mileage is going to drop as the weather gets colder. From what I understand the system, particularly the battery is less efficient as the temp. drops and also Winter additives blended into the cold weather fuel contribute to decreased MPG stats.
We are all experiencing lower mileage currently than just a few weeks ago, and I'm in Jersey where the Fall has been mild.
Be patient and you should see better numbers when the Spring comes on.
