I found this as an advertisement for the EV switch. Having spent a lot of time in Japan this option makes perfect sense.

"This is perfect for the early morning hours without waking up your neighbors, moving around in your garage with zero emmissions or sneaking into your driveway without disturbing your spouse"

    ;)

Doesn't work for me. My garage door makes a lotta noise when opening/closing.

After nearly 23 months of owning a hybrid, I've had my first "close call" with a pedestrian. A couple of co workers and myself were heading back to work with our freshly purchased lunches. The stretch of road was one that I easily and consistently run in EV mode both directions. From out of the dark, a jaywalker popped out between two cars, and nearly walked into the side of the Escape. I guess he was depending a bit too much on sound before running across the road.

Nothing like the old "silent bob" routine, maybe a bicycle bell would be a good idea hehe.

Hmm, bell+selenoid installed under the hood.....
