My CD player suddenly stopped working this morning....getting external system not connected error. Don't want to pay a dealer to reconnect a loose wire if I don't have to. Has anybody ever had this happen?

If the car is still under warrenty, it should not cost you anything to have the dealer repair it.

Does the radio play? AC work (can you control it)? If not, either you have a loose or shorted connection somewhere on the AVC network, or the MFD has gone bad. There was a known problem with the MFDs on earlier 2004's.

"thanks. It's working fine now; worked when I restarted the car. What's an MFD?"

It stands for, "Multi-Function Display." Basically, the monitor that comes with the car.

    Toyota calls it a Multi-Display.
