    Camner,
Does Gen 10.1 still lock out destination changes while the car is in motion?

Yes...no change there. Once moving, the only way to change the destination is either to stop or to use the voice command system (cumbersome but workable).

What's better about 10.1? Will my existing coastal tech nav mod that hits I agree and allows address entry while driving still work with 10.1?

    Camner,

Can you point me to the thread that described how to upgrade to the 10.1 software? I also have a 2007 and may want to try this.

I am still curious if the coastal tech navigation while moving mod woudl still work for me. I have an email in with them and will post here if they reply.

    Thanks

I heard back from coastal, they said the following:

"For any info regarding the 10.1 Toyota Nav software, you would want to contact Toyota, however, I do know that the 10.1 software is not compatible with the LockPick products available for your Prius. The LockPick product is compatible with software versions up to 9.1. Thanks and have a nice day!"

I upgraded my DVD twice now from the original that came with my 2006. I found them all to be lacking for anything that hasn't been there for 30 plus years. I finally just got a Tom-Tom and used that. I now use the Nav in my Droid and have given up completely on the prius Nav system or any other that runs on a DVD.

I'm looking for an 8.1 loading.kwi so that I can make a backup of my 10.1 disc that my 2006 Prius will accept. I care more about not having to press the Agree button than about entering a location while moving, which is why I want to make the less-popular 8.1/10.1 hybrid rather than the 5.1/10.1.

I'd also accept 7.1 as long as it doesn't make me press Agree. I know 6.1 does, and I've deduced from other posts that 8.1 doesn't, but I'm not sure about 7.1.

    Anyone have this file?

try these override sequences to see if it works for your car.

hit these buttons 9or touch screen)

Menu -> DVD -> upper top left -> lower bottom left -> upper top left -> lower bottom left -> lower bottom right

if new hidden screen shows up with override then hit and hold for few seconds to allow system override lockup of navigation when driving

I know 10.1 is out now, but did anyone ever get a burned 9.1 disc working in their 5th gen NAV units? Doesn't seem like there was ever closure on that question. I've been trying but only have some coasters to show for my efforts - although my NAV firmware did update to 9.1 from the coasters (I know because the "I Agree" screen has been replaced by the legal disclaimer screen) - which makes me think that the problem is not using burned media at all.

I've personally given up trying to use burned media in my son's 2007. While using a burned copy in our 2010 had no issues what so ever I am not aware of anyone who has successfully used a burned copy in a gen 5 nav *in a Prius* I've heard second had that gen 5 units in other models (e.g. Camry) accept burned copies just fine.

On a mildly unrelated note, although I like having the touch screen in the dash for other reasons, IMO the Toyota nav is inferior in nearly every way from pretty much every alternative (e.g. TomTom, Garmin or other standalone units, and multiple iPhone and android apps) We are both currently using Navigon on our iPhones and never bother with the Nav in the dash. That has eliminated the need to purchase (or otherwise acquire) the absurdly expensive Toyota map updates.

I just got a 2008 Prius, so sorry for the new question.

Anyone know how to get an updated Nav DVD for my 2008 Touring? I think the DVD version on mine is like .71.

As you can see earlier in this thread, version 10.1 came out last fall. That version is what you want. You can probably get it at any Toyota dealer. I got mine for about $200 by mail from Metro Toyota.

I have read on another forum that you need to use a plextor drive to burn these images.

Tom, can you give us a link to where you saw that? I sure would love to find a DVD writer that works for burning the updates. Thanks.

It's been a while, but I remember back in the day Plextor was the King when it came to burning images for Sega Dreamcast games. There was something their burners did that other did not.

Was anyone ever able to figure this out?
    Does the plextor drive work?

Are there any news on this?
I also tried to burn some DVDs using Verbatin DVD+R DL and no success. My car is a Prius 2008 Gen 5.

The iso i tried was: 86271-60A215 (latest v1 not v2)
