Ordered Driftwood Pearl #6 on February 27 in Houston

I got a call on April 8 and was offered a Tideland Pearl #4. I turned it down. I had given the Tideland as a possible color option, but after starting at the pictures of the Driftwood on both my home and work computers for almost two months, the color has become part of creative visualization. <sigh> And besides it was the mrrrfff-th anniversary of my 30th birthday,and I had just come home at mid-day with bronchitis, and felt really crummy. It was a weird day.

 

I stopped at the dealership last night and talked to my sales guy, Max. This was the first time I had been there since I placed the order. He said they had gotten two in in April, which was the usual, and that there are about 60 on the dealership's waiting list. Number placement isn't always really meaningful because they try to do the best match.

Max told me that after I declined the Tideland a few weeks ago, he called another guy on the list from somewhere up north - Minnesota, he thought - who immediately made a plane reservation and was here waiting the Monday morning after the shipment came in when the dealership opened. Then of course, I wondered if I had made a mistake...

Anyhow, we had a good talk, and I showed him several of these discussion forums.

 

I finally got to see a Tideland for a few minutes, and decides I had been a fool. I had been following this PriusChat web forum along with PriusOnLine and several of the Yahoo Prius forums, and I was finally getting a real visceral understanding of how the system, such as it is, works. So I went to see my long-suffering sales guy, who I find had been promoted to finance, but the old guy introduced me to the new guy, and I explained to him what happened in April, and how I changed my mind when I finally SAW a Tideland Pearl colored Prius, and would they please put it back on my possibilities list.
Then late this afternoon (Saturday), I get a message on my voice mail that my Prius is at the dealer ship and would I give them a call please. I called, and they told me that a Tideland Pearl Package #5 with Option Package A is there waiting for me. This is 5 days short of three months, so I am really not expecting anything for a month yet at least, and am not ready to sprint over to the dealership and take the car home, but I did go sign the title papers that have the VIN number on them. Then I can get my financing togeteher a month earlier than I had expected...
Any way, IT'S HERE!!!!
