LOL! You got me here. But, no car maker uses this or similar, just regular oil.

Honda uses a special oil in their new engines and say to not change it early.

I heard from a Toyota dealer that starting with 2011 models, all Toyotas will have 0-20 synthetic oil from the factory and be good for 8,000 miles before the first oil change.

The old school of thought of not using synthetic oil until the break-in period is complete doesn't appear to be valid for such setup. The Gen 3 comes with 0-20 synthetic from the factory.

    Hey Swampy,

Before I retired, I managed a fleet of 30,000 lift trucks and Royal Purple was after me to use this product. The cost was outrageous and the benefit minimal. Sorry, but I don't see the advantage, especially with today's efficient engines. I'm still hoping the engineers will figure out how to eliminate oil changes.

    Happy Motoring,

    Tom

To answer the question of frequent viewing of oil changes why not put the treads in a sticky format. Remember if you're a newbie you ask questions that a rather confusing to the average reader.
This 10k oil change is new for someone coming off dino oil changes.
Also, Toyota and the dealerships do not really explain the large oil change periods well enough. FishHawk

That issue was hotly debated on BITOG for a long time. I believe consensus was that Honda used high Moly assembly lube that produced high Moly numbers in oil analysis of factory oil rather than special high-Moly break-in oil.

Even if I'm incorrect and even if every new car comes out from a factory with special oil, that supports my point that too early oil change is harmful.

^That would make your argument even MORE valid if anything. ;-)
