I have 2005 Prius with cd changer. I want to get OEM 2006 Prius cd player with mp3 option. Does anyone know if it possible to install it? Does it require any modifications, additions or symply swapping one for the other.

    Thanks,
    Gene

I know that the 2006 new style radio
    face code 51824
    toyota part# 86120-47200

    and the old radio 51807
    toyota part# 86120-47090
they can be interchange and will work , none of this are compatible with the jbl system ,
if you have the part number i can check in the toyota books

Is there a compatible upgrade for the 05 JBL head unit (the 04/05 head unit flashes horribly with my Dice MP3 ipod adapter when scrolling htrough song titles)?

i'd like to see if this actually works, although i sincerely doubt it. considering that the climate control and other features are connected to the radio, there might be coding differences between that and the 2005 model.

If you do not have the JBL system it is better to install an aftermarket unit and leave the stock unit in place. You'll get more bang for your buck that way.
