I recently bought a 2010 Prius (3 weeks ago) and I have been experiencing a problem when using voice commands, specifically destination > address > city and right after it accept the city it just goes back to the map. I won't let me enter the address... I took it to the dealer today and recreated the problem but they didn't know how to fix it. I spent over 5 hours there, finally they gave me back the car and they said they were gonna contact me... Have anyone experienced the same problem?

Also even though I bought it this past december the nav version is 9.1

I don't know if I'd define that as a problem. If I am remembering my voice command menu correctly, telling it 'City' after you get to the address screen is telling it you don't know an address, you just want to be led to the city instead - hence once you specify the city, you get the nav map screen again. Perhaps I am misunderstanding what your getting at.

When you select destination, it should be able to let you enter the address. First is destination, address, city, street and number. The problem is that it just stop working after "city" and it goes back to the map. It probably do it 75% of the time. Sometimes it let you get to the address.
If I enter a different city there is no problem at all, it seems that is in Houston.

And of course it is a problem with the nav system, I didn't pay a $100 Garmin GPS, this is a $2000 upgrade, it should be able to work perfectly!

When you get back in your car...will you try "Las Vegas" and see what happens. See if it does the same thing. I'll try "Houston" on mine.

I tried "Houston" and it it did the same thing it does when I say "Las Vegas." It seems like this but be a glitch in the system for all of these cars. Let me know what you find out about getting it fixed.

Perhaps the city is outside the currently-chosen state?

Software version is ALWAYS needed for such problems.

Is anybody using the new Nav-DCD v10.1 yet?

If so, is the same "problem" there?

Using my (v9 I think) one says:
    "destination",
    "Costa Mesa" (the city),
    "Harbor" (the street),
    "2, 8, 5, 0" (the address),
    and "Enter" ...
with possibly a few "Yes" replies needed.

If you read the first post, you can see the nav version is 9.1. even though a bought the car less than a month ago and the ver 10.1 it's been out over 3 months now

I was just asking the other guy if he had the same. I agree it was pretty likely though...

It does sound like a bug but I was wondering if it was in 10.1 -- that would be a good reason to upgrade if it weren't. Maybe you can get your dealer to try it with V10.1? (I just have 9.1 as well)

    Hi guys:

I have version 10 of the software and the voice commands to find the above address worked perfectly. You are exactly 2593 miles away. So at first blush it sounds like this problem is resolved with version 10. I have had my 2010 Prius V since October and this is the first time I have used voice commands. I have been manually entering addresses up to now so I hope I have it right what you are trying to do. If there are other addresses you would like me to try let me know. By the way, I tried a local address here in Massachusetts and it worked fine too.

A couple things: The way I got my version 10 of the software was to explain to the dealer that since my Prius was brand new the firmware in my Nav system should be too. He agreed and ordered the disk for me free of charge. So give that a try, doesn't hurt to ask, and now you have leverage. Second, I have been raising a real ruckus over the NAV system with the Prius Team, specifically Doug Coleman. Among other things, one of the issues is the $200 charge for the NAV DVD upgrade. If we can verify that this is a problem specific to rev 9.1 resolved by rev 10.1, I'd be happy to address this with Doug (Doug are you reading?) Perhaps he'd be willing to do something for us.

Let me know what I can do to help further.

I will check my version and re-post in a bit.

If someone with v10 can try either of these sequences and see if it will accept a street name or if it craps out after the city name and goes back to map screen.

    "Change State"
    "Nevada"
    "Las Vegas"

    "Change State"
    "Texas"
    "Houston"

I have v10 and I tried both. Both worked flawlessly. I even said dummy street names and in one case Main street was there but 123 wasn't so it directed me to the street without an address. I'm not sure if it's diffferent if you are rolling as I tried this in my garage. I have not yet seen an example of the address sequence crapping out after saying State and town with v10 as you have reported with v9.

Are you sure you have the correct map region selected and that these two states are within your selected region?

Sorry to rehash and old thread, but I wanted to check with those that are having this issue. Do you have Voice Recognition Guidance turned off? I'm not 100% where to find it, I have a 2011 Toyota Sienna. But the 2010-11 Prius and 2011 Sienna use the same disc.

Take a look at these threads and please try searching Houston, or Vegas with the Guidence turned on and off. I have the same issue that you do. I was in for an oil change and had time to kill so I had them look at it. The service guy turned that option back on (I HATE the guidance, its so slow) and everything worked.

I'm having a related problem... I can't believe my fancy new 2012 Prius Four with the "premium nav" doesn't even HAVE all of these voice commands that your 2-year-old Prius does!! :-p

Good news, the disc I borrowed from my friend v11.1 fixes the problem! Now I have to wait for Toyota to acknowledge the problem.
