Bluetooth was never a problem...until yesterday.

I've been using my Blackberry Tour without any problems in the Prius. Bluetooth connection was made, and was working perfectly. That is, until yesterday.

Each time I turn my car on, the bluetooth in the car "connects" to the phone and acts as if I'm making a call (for example, the radio goes silent, the NAV screen goes to the phone call in progress mode, and the timer is clicking away.) If I look at my phone, there is no call in progress. I have to "hang up" the "call" from the NAV screen to return to the radio.

Now, when I do try to make a phone call, the bluetooth system won't register the signal. The phone states that it's connecting, the bluetooth symbol is on my phone, but I can't hear a thing. The radio still plays on the car, so it's as if I'm not making a call.

Anyone have this issue? I've tried deleting the connection...both on the car and on the phone.

I stopped by the dealership this morning and they are not aware of any issues (I didn't have time to leave the car today).

    HELP!

Try resetting your phone- sometimes that works for me.

I had the opposite problem--the Bluetooth wouldn't shut off. We couldn't call from the car. To correct it, I had to stop and turn off the vehicle and allow the system to reboot at startup. It only happened one time.

I had the exact same issue. In my case, everything was working great and then I got a phone call while I was trying to call someone else and that screwed up the system. Were you able to get the bluetooth system to return to normal?

I have a 2010 Highlander Hybrid and am having the identical problem. I have done several battery pulls on my Blackberry, deleted the device from Bluetooth (on both the Blackberry and the vehicle), returned to default settings. Still, every time I start the vehicle, the Nav screen changes to the call in progress screen, as if i was making a call, even though the blackberry is not calling. This was never a problem until a few days ago. I hope this gets resolved soon.

my bluetooth also worked great until one day I made a call and it seemed to hook in, but it didn't actually make a connection. I had to turn my phone's bluetooth off in order to use the phone at all while in the car. Been not using bluetooth ever since. Wasn't sure where the problem lies and didn't have time to mess with fixing it. Any suggestions?

I have the exact same problem with my bluetooth in 2008 model. It worked fine with two seperate phones for 1 yr and 11 mths. Then, one day my phone was off and the bluetooth in the car said it was "talking" and the radio sound went off. I pulled over and checked my phone and it was off. But, the bluetooth system in the car still was acting like I was talking to someone. It's at the dealership right now and they are stumped. It's not the phone. I am worried because from what I have seen on the internet there is no fix. This is a problem for me because I used my phone in the car all the time. That is the reason I bought the car (besides gas mpg) so that I could drive handsfree and not get a ticket from a cop and/or not be distracted. We'll see what happens.

It looks to me like lots of us are having this problem and no one has posted a solution. My bluetooth was working fine with my Blackberry until last Friday. Now, it connects automatically and thinks I am "talking". I can dial from the car - but it remains in "dialing" mode, even after I've connected. I can NOT answer a call or initiate a call with voice dialing from my phone - because the car bluetooth apparently SENDS signals to the phone (i.e. dialing) but doesn't RECEIVE them (i.e. ring/answer, or connection made). This also means that I can't enter additional numbers once connected since it thinks it's still "dialing" so the 0-9 never illuminates. HELP!

I had a similar problem start today. Bluetooth worked perfectly since I purchased my 2010 Prius about two months ago. Now I can make a call from my blackberry using the speaker and microphone in the car, but I cannot "dial by name," "dial by number", or use the speed dial numbers. I press the button and the radio says "listening" and I'll say "Call Home" and nothing happens. I'll press a speed dial number and press send and nothing happens. Also, when I am using the speaker I can only end the call by pressing end on my blackberry. I've tried everything. Any suggestions?

We have a similar problem in our 2010 with a Verizon LG ENV3. The car will pair with the phone when we get in but then the timer will start as if we are on a call. We can't make any calls until we turn the phone off and back on again. Could it be Verizon?

Wow I thought I was the odd man out until I read this post. I have the same problem as Tiffnco. I have a Blackberry Storm 9530 with Verizon that has been working perfectly with the BT on my 2007 Prius until a few days ago. Makes me wonder if Rim or Verizon did an "upgrade" and the BT "hand-shake" is now out of sequence. I don't think it's a Prius problem. Or we all got "zapped" with a BT scrammbler virus. Anyone have a fix?

    Get an iPhone. lol
Used it LOTS and never had any glitch. My wife has an iPhone in her car and uses it LOTS too. No problems. Kids have iPhones in their prii. Same story, use it LOTS no problems (I would hear about any phone problems).

I know, no help......... just .02 cents.

It works now. My blackberry was "locked up" (which happens once in a while even though I have the latest OS), so I pulled the phone battery, waited about a minute, re-installed the battery, it booted up in about a minute and all's well with the Prius BT world. So, try solving the problem by resetting the phone via pulling the battery.

    Hi
I have the same problem on my phone ( Nokia) bluetooth connection. A few months back it was happening rarely ( once a fortnight ) but now its happening once a week which is annoying. VERY ANNOYING! as I have to pull over and stop the car and switch off the car momentarily and restart the car ( basically switch off the power button and start again).I had to do it yesterday when I was driving on the freeway(highway). I have tried switching off the phone and restarting it which did not fix the problem. The problem is with the car software. I also know if the phone is "going to give problems" as the ring tone on the car speakers changes if someone rings me and if I answer the phone using handsfree it does not connect > the only way then is to take the phone out of my pocket and answer it from the phone which is dangerous.
Any suggestions how to f ix it . I doubt the dealer here in Melbourne would have had many similar complaints but before I do it any suggestions from anyone?
    Thanks
    Mand

Suggestions: Make sure the phone has the latest software update - check online with Nokia or take it in to the service center of your carrier. After the software update, remove the phone battery, put the phone battery back in and see if that cures the problem. Hope that helps.

I had the exact same problem with a blackberry and my 2007 prius. It started when I had 2 calls going at once and had a weird "disconnect" where everything did not hang up properly.

I tried everything I could think of and finally, the "pull the battery from the phone" did the trick. It is not enough to reboot or power cycle the phone, you have to pull that battery, folks!

The problem was not with the car, it was with the phone being in some weird state.

Now all is well, and everything works properly.

I had a similar problem. It's called remote bugging. Nothing wrong with the car. The car is just telling you that your cell phone's mic is on. Is anyone on this page up to something the FBI want's to know about?
