PWR Mode: ICE tend to turn off less often - can anyone confirm?

I have clearly noticed that in PWR mode, apart from the obvious change in gas pedal response, the ICE tends not to shut down and burn fuel when releasing completely the gas pedal, especially - but no exclusively - at higher speeds (e.g. >90km/h).

In normal or ECO mode the ICE will turn off (though still turning, I know, if at "high speeds") and fuel consumption will show 0L/100km.
With PWR the engine spins and you see a fuel consumption not equal to 0.

My theory is that the engine management will be a bit more aggressive and tend to keep the ICE spinning with gas to make sure that when the gas pedal is pressed the reaction is immediate and there is no lag due to the MG1 spinning it first to turn it on. Moreover, the battery is charged more than just letting the wheels spin, but less than braking, in this way, since the engine can actively drive MG1 to generate energy for the battery (not very efficient, but after all this is PWR mode... ;) ).

Did anybody notice this? What do you think?

This would justify,BTW, in a more scientific way the statement on the User's Manual that says that PWR mode will tend to increase fuel consumption.

I'm mostly in ECO, but made this experience: 50 km/h steady state on flat terrain in ECO: engine off (quite clear .... ), then throttle off, change to PWR, increase throttle up to the same amount in the display, having again my about 50 km/h steady state : engine runs and doesn't switch off . Doing the same again back to ECO : engine stays off .... of course.

    So the same tendency.

P3now, I have noticed that too...but, if you are in steady state (engine on or off), and press ECO and then PWR and the ECO (staying in the mode for 5-10 secs), nothing happens...

Whereabouts are you from Germany? I am in Munich.

when I'm at about 90 km/ (steady state, flat) and switch from ECO to PWR then it takes some seconds and the engine revs up and the vehicle gets faster - but very, very smooth ... and vice versa when back to ECO. But it's that smooth, that you're a little bit in doubt if there is happening something at all (but I'm quite sure meanwhile). I experience the same but easily to notice at an uphill with about 50 km/h - the reaction is obvious.

I'm also in the South ...

Sorry, I forgot to write - if you have the CC on, and press PWR or ECO, nothing happens - i.e. if the engine is not running, it will continue not to run.

If you are keeping the speed by pressing the gas pedal instead (e.g. constant pressure), things will change (very smoothly, noticed that as well) because the same position of the gas pedal will mean 2 different "power" requests to the drive train depending on the mode selected.
