My prius that I just got rid of a few months ago didn't have them, and the MINI coop that I just bought has them--they ROCK! Especially when you turn the car on and gives you a little up-down light show ;)

Our other Prius that we still have has the HIDs, no problems yet :-D

I've had HID lights since 1998...and I would never buy another vehicle without them.

From a night driving standpoint the difference in clarity and reduction in eye strain for the driver is...to excuse the pun...like night and day.

I've only had an HID bulb fail once, on my '03 Lexus at around 140,000 miles. I replaced both at the cost of $70 a peice. IMHO, $140 is a pittance to pay for 140,000 miles of the improved and safer lighting I had experienced with the HIDs.

Personally, I've never been blinded by OEM HIDs. They have an electronic leveling system.

Soon you won't see halogen lights on cars at all...

That is exactly how I feel. Unless they come out with something even better. :)

Never had a problem with the HIDs in my 2005. I suspect the problem models are 2006-2009.

I have definately seen Prius' with one headlight out on the roads...I think they were all '06-'09.

The Prius obviously and my old '03 ES have reflector type FHD setups, my new 2010 ES has projector style HID lights and I can say they are better, much sharper cutoffs and the light is more focused and intense.

I haven't driven a car with LED headlights at night, but I have been told they are even better.

Yeah Toyota flashes the headlights when the alarm is set off...

Except the TSX which as no auto-levelling system (this system is NOT required in North America. Fortunately, most HID-equipped vehicles do have auto-levelling)

    like.. LED headlights?

I agree and that applies to the halogen ones too. I've noticed they're a lot better than the multi-reflector setup (e.g. my smart's halogen projectors vs. the Prius' multi-reflector setup). Even the current Camry looks pretty good and sometimes, the projectors give off a purple hue when looking head-on, fooling me into thinking it's been modded with HIDs when in fact they're just factory halogens.
