Does any one know if the new Video Ipod will work with the Vais AIC-100i. They removed the top port and I saw this in a review.
I know the Vais uses the bottom port, but just wanted to know if anyone has tried one yet?

I am not sure the Apple stores have them yet. They had the computers the day after the announcement but no iPods. She is working today and I will ask if they are in. The bottom connecter is the same.

The video iPods are already out...I have one. :) Yes, the connector is the same as previous iPods.

I don't have an AIC-100i though. As much as I'd love to have one, VAIS referred me to a local dealer here in Los Angeles and the cost of the unit plus installation was going to run close to $700. Ouch! I'll stick to the cassette adaptor for now.

My daughter confirmed as much. The first day after the announcement they did not have them in the store the next day they were in. She says they are insanely great. Do you think I could get my local Apple store to take one out to my car and hook it up and see how it works? Naaa? I look too much like your effete hippie radical pinko bum to be trusted.

i went and checked them out at the Apple store at Southcenter Mall. they are pretty cool i have to admit. screen clarity is excellent...small but sharp.

then again, the pic is so small, even if there was artifacts i probably wouldnt see em anyway...

    still cool though

I got my new video iPod this week and my Vais came in as well. I took them to get installed today with no luck.

I called Vais to ask if the AIC100i supported the new Video iPod and all they told me is that it had not been tested.

The installer wants to take another crack at it tomorrow. I'll let you know if I have any success.

My Prius is a 2005 model with the Nav system.

Took the Prius back into today. We tried an iPod photo and it didn't work either. So apparently it's the AIC=100i. My cd changer has also stopped working. I can't eject, play or load a disc. I can't even swith from MD changer to CD Changer.

I hope this Vais thing hasn't ruined my cd player.

I'm calling Vais on Monday to see if they'll send me another one to try.

Unplug the black wire from AIC-100i. This is the cable going to the radio.
If the radio functions correctly again, I bet the AIC-100i is setup as a CD-Changer. The radio can't understand two CD-Changers.
Follow the directions in the manual to switch it to a MD Changer.

have you contacted VAIS? there is another person here who is having similiar issues too. the video thing shouldnt matter since it will still play music and function like a normal ipod.

let us know how you were treated

Okay here comes a really embarrasing admission. I can take the ramifications, so here it goes.

The Vais AIC-100i works very well. Just as advertised. And it was installed correctly.

I'm the moron to blame. It was quite simple after reading hybrideyes instructions.

I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PLAYLISTS CREATED!!!!!!!!

Thanks goes to all those that provided input. And a big thanks to hybrideyes for the great instructions.

I still have one problem. The AIC-100i works now that I pulled my head out of my butt and figured out that you had to have playlists created.

But, my cd player is still not working. I can change modes from my iPod to Sirius in MD Changer mode, but I can't get out of MD Changer mode into CD Changer and my cd changer, which is full, will not eject any discs.

    Any suggestions?

I have the same suggestion as before. Disconnect the black cable that goes from the AIC to the radio. The CD Changer should start working again. Then connect the AIC again.

Well, it's not working again. Now, it's like it get's hung up. The screen on the iPod just flashes between "It's OK to disconnect" and the menu. The first second of the first song in my first playlist plays and then repeats.

    Very strange.

hey glad you got it figured out... cant help you on the CD player thing as mine was empty will most likely never be used again although must thank you for the heads up as i would have probably popped a disc in there without even having thought that the thing was unplugged.

i have a portable CD player that can be plugged into the AIC on a temp basis (it was my music source before my ipod... it sucked since i frequently ran out of music before i ran out of workout)

I spoke with Eugene at Vais today and he said it sounds like there is a problem with my AIC-100i. He had me pull it and ship it back to him. He told me that he'd get it fixed and sent right back.

Does the CD Changer work with the AIC-100i disconnected? It should.
If it doesn't there is something else going on.

You may need to disconnect the cable from the radio.

No it doesn't. I'll try disconnecting it from the radio.
