Hello all. I have had my Prius for a few weeks now and Im really impressed. I drove it 16 hours straight yesterday and it was very comfortable. Here are a couple shots of the car, yes that my F350 back there, 8MPG... so the Prius gets to be my daily and the truck is for work. I am also impressed with the PriusChat site. Ive used some of the info from great posts here to inspire some mods including these 2009 tC wheels. I have also tinkered with grill blocking to some success. Does anyone recognize these chrome wheel well trim pieces the dealer installed? Im not too fond of them, and as you can see I went about blacking out the rear passenger trim with blackout tape, but Im considering removing them. Are they adhesive backed? Heat gun removal might work if so. Also, Im not too sure I like the tan pinstripe, although I see it accents off the bisque interior, I really prefer the simple stock lines of the car. Also, does anyone know if the stock tC TPMS sensors will work with my car? They are tripping the indicator. Thanks much in advance for the replies.

Do you know what the weight of the wheels are?

I do not recognize those chrome pieces under the fender. You're saying your car came like that? And the pinstripe too? Odd.

BTW your car is saying "lower me!"

These wheels are said to weigh in at around 20 lbs. Yes the fender trim, door trim, and pinstripes are all part of a dealer add package that I didn't get to choose. Those were already on it, but that was my color.... I like the stock ride height as Im tall. I think its saying to get a tire with a little more sidewall.... I wonder if I can fit 55's instead of 45's.

I agree that the trim on the wheel wells and the stripes need to go. Otherwise, looks good. Welcome to PC!

The TPMS sensors in your tC wheels will work with your car; you just have to get them programed at the dealer for 60 dollars or something.

wheels look pretty good, I almost went that route myself until a V wheel deal came about.

the chrome pieces on your fenders are probably just stuck on with double sided tape and should pull right off.

I'd wait to attempt this on a warmer day after the car has sat in the sun for a while.

Funnily enough I bought my first 2010 Prius from Carson City Toyota too and it came with fender guards, door guards, and black pin striping - none of which I requested. I liked the guards but they were white, not chrome. I'd intended to remove the pin stripes at some point but totaled the car before I ever got around to it. I've added white OEM door guards to my replacement Prius. Without up close inspection you can't even tell they are there.

    BTW, nice wheels!

    Nice car !

I'd also get rid of the chrome. That pinstripe really makes the car look wedgy ... I kind of like that.

I didn't realize that that shoulder line was so sloped until I say your stripe.

I have a WInter gray and was thinking about pinstiping as well. Have to decide on the color maybe silver ... or red ... or silver AND red.

Any thoughts on color of pinstripes for Winter Gray ?

Those wheels are 17's, right ?

Is it just me or does it look like the chrome fender trim in only on 3 of the fenders????

In his original post he mentioned that he 'blacked out' the other one with electrical tape ... presumably to see what it looked like.

Actually the blackout tape is a product for sale at NAPA. You cut it, trim it apply and hit it with some hot air to smooth it. Its intended to be permanent. That is what I have applied to update the chrome fender trim rather than throw it out. It will be good for door ding protection and I like the look now to match the door edge guard on black.

Ive removed the rear quarter of the pinstripes, I like it without. I do like the pinstripe, but I would rather it was silver, gold/tan is nowhere else on the outside.

I think silver would look great on gray. I'm kind of an aesthetically picky person, and I think that the accent has to have some reference to another color on that portion (i.e. interior - exterior).
