    All,

I got a used 2010 model with 8K mileage for 22250. It is a Prius III 2010 model and comes from the dealer who originally had the car for sale. Instead of selling it went to a lease within the dealer (Account Manager had it) and over time he changed to Camry model. hence it came back for sale. I bought it from them under the Toyota Certified Program. Currently I have 3 yr / 36000 Mile warranty, 7 yr powertrain warranty and 8 yr hybrid warranty. The dealer told me that I can have the 7 yr bumper to bumper warranty for $1542 (basically after 3 yrs since toyota covers it) instead of the regular price of $3500 or so. Is this worth it?

Appreciate your inputs and thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Anand

Thank you Bisco. Only thing I wonder is my MPG is 41/42. I am still learning and getting to know more about the car. Hopefully I will reach 50 in summer.

i think your fine in the low forties for now. search the mpg threads here, there are a ton of tips on how to improve it. and it will definately go up 10-20% in the late spring.

I bought my new Prius under the same dealer circumstances. I opted not to buy the extended service policy. I put the extra $1,500 in the bank and I'll use it as service (if any) is needed.

Congrats on your new Prius and welcome to PriusChat. Be sure to read your owner's manual. Don't worry about mileage just yet. The MPGS's will come around as you become used to driving. Use "EcoMode" as much as possible, stay out of "EV" mode and drive with a light foot on the accelerator.
