Are you planning to leave the camera on during the operation? We want to make sure the next scar is nice and straight, right beside the last one. :)

The new scar will be above and connect to the last one. Hopefully it's nice and straight. Maybe I can set up Skype in the operating room so you guys could watch and yell at the surgeon if they are doing it wrong. Where is Evan when I need him???

    That's excellent news. :)

I don't know what your medical oncologist will be saying about outcome, but I know what a difference a good chemo response makes emotionally.

    :)

I cannot say I follow the medical logic (surgical removal of a PET scan negative lesion?) but that is probably a detail lost in the translation. The important thing, Justin, is you are hanging in there and still joking around. Cheers!

Justin, I'll be thinking about you. I hope it goes well. You constantly amaze me and are a source of inspiration to all of us.

All Of the doctors involved work together to decide the best route for me to take and while they are careful not to promote false hope, they do talk about how well I am responding and how little disease I have at this point. :) It makes going back on chemo seem like a heroic charge into battle instead of a painful chore.

    Thank you, my friend. :)

The first PET scan last summer showed 3 small tumors, 1 in my liver and 2 in my lung. After 3 months of chemo, the next PET scan came up negative but the CT scan still shows tumor tissue but it is reduced and doesn't appear active. With my cancer, chemo doesn't usually completely kill larger tumors so surgery is part of the game plan. Then I will finish the chemo to take care of any smaller sites that may be hidden from view.

having you guys in my corner makes a world of difference!

With You pulling for me I don't need luck! :)

You are speaking from experience with the socks yeah? :p

I don't know about being am inspiration but if my fight helps even 1 person just a little bit then I am glad to have gone through it!

Justin I bet you have thought about it already, but the potential audience for your optimism and insights into oncology treatments is potentially much larger than this group.

If in the future you have spare time, you could turn your observations into an article. I am sure that a place to publish it could be found. Especially it could have a positive impact on other young patients, who might otherwise get stuck in a "why me?" frame of mind.

Absolutely, I like the numbingly tight fit. :D

I believe attitude is a big part in recovery. I (we're) here to help if things get tough or too weighty.

The liver sugery was successful. :)

I went in at 5am on Wednesday to have a tumor removed from my liver and a small surgery to fix a fissure I was being crippled with. I must admit that this surgery hurt a whole lot more than my colon resection and the ileostomy reversal. They made a 10"-11" incision from my diaphragm down to my belly button where my old scars started. Now I have a continuous line down to my err um man junk.

They found another tumor while they were in there which just goes to show the importance of surgery even though the scans came up with negative activity!

I spent the next 4 days in the hospital recovering. Despite having trouble walking or getty out of bed, I think I am well enough to go home so here I lie. :)

Here are 2 photos I'll cherish for awhile. The first just goes to show that with the right painkillers, anyplace can be the happiest place on earth. The second is just pure carnage.
