Semi Trucks Spraying Rock Mist

    I was driving yesterday and I started hearing a bunch of particles hit my car. Imagine shaking sand in an empty coke can. There are cars in front of me so the trucks are way up there. I'm thinking wow we're all taking a beating right now. There's about 5 cars next to me. What to do. I decide to switch to the farthest lane to the left to avoid as much particle (I'm pretty sure it's rock now from looking at the damage) as possible. Now I see two trucks. All black. A pair of those gravel/asphalt trucks that pull two boxes. The sounds been going on so I have no choice but to pull a little closer. Now I'm seeing rock mist and the sound of rock is getting a lot stronger. I had no choice but to get on the emergency lane even further on the left and get in front of the truck. A few cars were following right behind me because there were really no more options. Basically the trucks were shooting out pounds of rocks at a half mile radius and before I even saw them. I'm thinking comprehensive insurance.

    What was the damage? I had a road debris go under and it pierced the gas tank of a previous car. Insurance covered it under comprehensive.

    Nah I was trying to get their license plate numbers. They were very far away already when they started spraying rocks. I should of stopped or even exited because the mist was very strong.

    Not covered? My insurance company did cover the damage under comprehensive or are you talking about the OP?

    insurance will cover you 100%.

    I had the same thing happen to me but it only put a few cracks in my windshield. They will cover you.

    I washed and waxed my car this weekend and discovered that I have A LOT of dents on my hood due to highway gravel and other debris. I can count at least 30 white dents in my clear coat (and maybe paint).

    I never considered this might be covered by insurance. But I don't have a distinct story. It's just happened over time. I'm sure this is normal. What do you suggest?

    Lol. Unless you can come up with a distinct story like the OP, I'm afraid you don't have much of a claim, especially when it's nothing as serious as a cracked windshield, torn bumper or pierced gas tank. It's not worth losing the usually superior factory paint and potentially increasing your premium. Get the Langka paint chip repair kit.
