I did a google search for "Carmate NZ502" and it comes up on several Japanese sites for around $12US. Not sure if the sites will ship to US as they are all google translated from Japanese to English. It says they will fit 2009.5 models. FEINT I would be interested in getting one if the cost and shipping isn't too high. Seems it would be a lot more useful than the $175 for the JDM box shown in this thread. Thanks.
Dropshot, If you get a few more of you in the US to buy, then it would bring the fixed cost of purchase down. You have to bear in mind, there are other fees involved. Shipping to me from the retailer (buying on the net I am guessing is cheaper than from a retail shop) $3-4 dollars, bank charges ($2 or so) to the seller and of course shipping to the US (unknown). I don't mind doing a one off buy for you all, but I wouldn't want to have 10 orders to 10 different places at 10 different times.
If you go to Lowes or Home Depot, you can get these rubbery mats that mechanics line their tool drawers with. They keep sockets and what not from rolling all over the place. A pack of this can be easier cut and will go a long way in keeping things all settled in these areas. Heck, if you really want them to stay, a little rubber cement dab in the corners will keep them in place. Plus, rubber cement is easily removed should the need arise.
I throw my hat and gloves under there, and a CD case or some spare change generally finds it's way there as well. A "Carmate NZ502" would make it a lot more useful to me though.
I'd probably be up for a group buy too... or I can try searching some of the Asian markets in the area that sell auto accessories.
I'd be up for it too! I don't even have mine yet, but I know that space seemed wasted even during the test drives.
Had the car for two weeks. So far I've found the front console to be great for holding leftovers after going out for dinner or temporarily storing "to do" things for my day (mailing letters at the post office, etc.). Love it!
I keep our mailbox key, disabled tag, and a pen - sometimes sunglasses which dont fit the glasses holder. Sometimes just use it temporarily for any item that fits.
I keep our soc. sec. cards--check routing #-all passwords to my online bank accounts--and my debit card with password. It all fits fine next to my sunglasses and lucky buddha statue.
FINALLY - someone has fallen into the trap I intended to set by starting this thread! Now just PM me your address so I can, ummmm, put it in my address book...
Will send you what you want when my nervous system and my medications are in perfect alignment. May take a while. My wife and I are WMU grads. Your neck of the woods.
Cool - I grew up in the Grand Rapids area and went to Calvin College and studied engineering, then moved to the lakeshore area when I got my first engineering gig. That background is a big part of why I am driving my second hybrid. I think the technology that goes into the HSD is amazing.

We store an extra cubic foot of fresh air there. That way, we have three extra breaths if our Prius is ever submerged in water or cast into the vacuum of space. You'll wish, for a moment, you'd done the same on December 22, 2012.
