I just noticed today that I have three round spots about 1/4 of an inch in diameter on the MFD of my 2010. Two are above the ECO side and one is directly over the mpg where it gives me my miles per gallon. The spots are dark enough that they block out the “pg†of the mpg and the top spots are not covering anything of importance but there none the less. I thought perhaps they were on the outside of the plastic screen but they are not. I used Windex and they are still there. Has anyone had this problem and would it be covered under warranty? Has anyone else had this problem? It just seemed to happen overnight.
    Thanks,

    John

There have been numerous reports of moisture getting inside the MID display units. I had this happen to me. Others had their dealers replace the MID unit under warranty. My dealer removed the lenses to mine, cleaned them thoroughly and replaced. I did not realize how blurry it looked until it was cleaned.

This is a problem that Toyota is aware of and will repair or replace under warranty. Take it to your dealer.

I took the car in yesterday and they replaced the lens in the dash. I'm pleased with the results.

What concerns me is that will it stay clean? If not how hard will it be to clean after the warranty expires? I wonder if they can fix the problem so it doesn't happen again? I keep my cars a minimum of 10 years and these little things can add up.

I just finished dealing with my mouse/mice problem and then noticed this spot on the inside of the display. I was trying to figure out how a mouse could mess up the inside of the display. I didn't think they had even gotten past the air filter. It was perplexing but I was pretty sure it would cost a lot and wasn't under warranty. Now I know it has nothing to do with the mouse, and is covered under warranty. Thank you very much.

When I picked my car up the other day, I asked the service manager if they have many cars come in with this problem; he said they did. My next question was, "What causes the problem"? He said they didn't know.

My concern now is, will it come back and for how long will they keep replacing the lenses? I have the extended coverage so I hope this problem does NOT keep coming up.

I live here in humid Florida but the AC is on most of the time. If there is growth in the dash, where else is it happening that we don't see but could be a factor down the road.
